Book Reviews of The Twilight Saga Collection

Book Review: A must have to add to your book collection!
Summary: 5 Stars

I wanted to get the first book, Twilight from the library, thought since, I had seen the movie before reading the book, better be safe. However, the wait to read Twilight, from the library was over a year, I wanted to read the second novel before the new movie came out and decided to buy the collection. I am so glad I purchased this collection, I started out with the first book and absolutely loved it, finished it in two days, so I was especially glad I chose to buy the collection. I am not an avid reader, but this authors gift of writing is beyond words, I just could not put the book down. I have had a real wild few years, due to illness(s), toddler and my fathers passing in a car accident; Having this collection to read at night was wonderful, it helped calm my senses and put my imagination into over drive; it was such a surprise to enjoy reading again. I am a mom, first and foremost and most of my day is taking care of others, to actually put aside time for myself and read this collection was extremely healing. The last few years, all my spare time was consumed with research on my rare medical condition, I have suffered 26 infections in 24 months. To have something to do that was relaxing and not taxing on my body is a treasure and I am so grateful to her work. I have tried to read other authors work, but found myself bored, and not into the pieces at all. Stephanie Meyer is such a talent and her gift of writing has helped me cope with an unbearable illness and to just escape a few hours a night, having my mind in another world is priceless. I am turning 40 this year, this body of work is about teenagers, I found it bringing back memories of when I went to high school and found it tremendously enjoyable, I think this work is for any age. I hope Stephanie Meyer continues her work, I understand that someone leaked the last book on the intranet, but I am hoping one day she will decide she wants to continue the series, I am now a forever fan!

Book Review: Absolutely magical
Summary: 5 Stars

This series is absolutely wonderful. I didn't even know Twilight existed until long after the first movie had been released. All of a sudden the name "Twilight" was everywhere and I wondered to myself -- what is that?! In my head I lumped it together with Miley Cyrus aka things I refuse to even give a chance! Then, one fine day, my roommate bought the movie and I, very skeptically, agreed to watch it. And I fell-in-love.

Fast forward to the present and I've read and fallen in love with all 4 (+ Midnight Sun) books.

Here's the magic: the story in and of itself, especially when talking about the first 3 books, is quite simplistic. But it's such a beautiful love story, one which makes you forget your cynicism and lets you escape reality. It made me feel like I was a 13 year old girl with butterflies in my stomach. But unlike a 13 year old girl reading these books, I didn't fall in love with just Edward Cullen (or Robert Pattinson) the character, they made me fall in love with love. With the beauty and excitement and truth of a simple love story. One where two people love each other and they make it work.

I exclude the 4th book from this assessment because the 4th book itself takes on a lot more plot and tying-up of loose ends as it were. And so it loses a bit of the love-story magic so powerful in the first three books.

The series itself is refreshing, to me, in its simplicity. It would be a mistake to not read this book because you assume it is science fiction or because you think it's for young adults. Technically those two things may be true but the fact that this book involves vampires, to me, is secondary to the love story which is easily relatable for any age. If you love a good love story which makes you laugh, cry, giggle, want to throw the book out the window, and which you cannot stop reading except that you never want it to end - read the Twilight series. It will not disappoint.

Book Review: These books made me feel 16 again!
Summary: 5 Stars

These books were just wonderful, in my opinion. Sure, there were parts that I didn't like. Sure, the characters were not amazingly deep. But you know what? Neither are most people! These books made me feel youthful. After seeing the movie Twilight I didn't think I'd ever want to pick up these books, but I'm so glad I did. The movie really didn't do them justice, but you better believe I'm going to see all the rest when they come out just for a chance to relive the fun of the Twilight Saga.

Twilight, the first book, is in my opinion the best one. You can really tell that the author enjoyed writing this book. The dialogue is really fun and expressive. At first I hated New Moon, because I missed Edward (haha). But then, it really grew on me, as did Jacob. The final books were, to me, the worst. (Spoiler Alert) Bella getting pregnant really irritated me. It was too adult. The books were great at expressing youth. I didn't really want to get into all that adult stuff. But, it was still enjoyable once I got passed being irritated with it. Towards the end of the final book I was also a bit irritated that there was no action, only talk. But I have to say, the final pages made me smile and I felt all warm and fuzzy inside.

These books are easy to read and they are fun. I know everyone try's to hype them up by saying 'sparkly vampires, oh my!' but really these books are about relationships and being in love for the first time. They give the reader the opportunity to relive that first love, and even daydream that it is possible for that time of love to last forever. Even if you don't like them it is worth picking them up from the library because they are such a big cultural hit. I'm past the point of caring if I look cool, so I'll openly admit, I LOVED these books.

Book Review: Best Series Ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a 35 year old mother of two and I have read books my entire life. I have never enjoyed fantasy/sci-fi, usually gravitating to authors like Baldacci and Grisham. I watched the movie Twilight last week and decided that I should start the books. I had Twilight on my shelf from months before and just didn't think I would enjoy anything about vampires (I actually had purchased it for my husband). I was shocked at how taken in I was with the first book. It was incredible. I had to have the next one and then the final two. I read all 4 books in 4 days reading while my children slept. 4 days of going to bed at 1 am and getting up at 4am to read. You would think that I missed the sleep but actually on that 5th day all I could think was that I wanted to be getting up at 4 again because that meant that the books weren't over. The writing style is amazing. I found myself saying, "I'll finish just this chapter" and then would find I'd read 10 more! The characters are incredibly compelling, you find yourself feeling drawn to each of them. I am now reading the chapters of Midnight Sun that Stephenie Meyer has on her website and am again enthralled. I am actually going a little slower just so it won't be over! :) It is also wonderful. I would love for her to write all 4 books from Edwards perspective, I feel like we gain so much more insight from him. I also think that there is much room for more writing after Breaking Dawn. I felt that she wrapped the series up very well, I just think that there is still plenty to write about and I would be happy reading many more books along the same story line with the same characters. I am now going to buy the boxed set just to have it! Stephenie Meyer is an amazing author, we are all very fortunate that she had the dream of Edward and Bella in the meadow!

Book Review: The Twilight Saga Collection
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful collection. The books are all hardback, bound nicely, and have your typical hardback sleeve covers. You also get a nice box that they fit snugly in and four picture things from the cover of each book.

The books themselves are wonderful, and at the price that Amazon is offering this collection, you're getting all of them (Hardcover!), a nice little box, and those little picture card things for about $10 a book?

Well, dunno about you, but I could walk into the local Barnes & Noble and pay $8 just for the paperback version, much less a nice big hardcover version. And most experienced readers will tell you, a nice hardcover book is much easier to read than a paperback. The text is larger, the binding is much better, and the whole book is genuinely top notch.

If you are a serious Twilight Saga fan, as myself, you may want to also look at the collector's edition version of Twilight which is already shipping at the time of this review and the other three are soon to follow. (New Moon in October 2009)

I bought the Twilight Saga Collection because I saw the movie. I needed another item to get my order for something else past $25 to qualify for free shipping. And I just saw Twilight (the movie) reccommended for me by Amazon, saw it had Kristen Stewart (Who I've been a fan of for a few years.) and then I saw that the movie was based off from a book written by Stephenie Meyer who went to Brigham Young University for English Literation. So, I watched the movie, and bought this collection. I read the whole collection over the course of 4-5 days, and wanted more. Still want more too! The books are awesome, and the first book, Twilight, makes the movie seem kind of bland in comparison.
