Book Reviews of The Truth about Forever (Teen's Top 10 (Awards))Book Review: a really good book! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is great! I read it in one day. Everyone knows Macy as the girl who saw her father die, her mother never talks to her and her boyfriend Jason is going away for the summer to Brain Camp. Macy, then meets the Wish Catering crew. Pregnant Delia, nerdy Bert, friendly Kristy, quiet Monica and gorgeous Wes. Wes has his own share of problems, he got busted for breaking into a house and he is an artist. Macy feels that everything has to be perfect, her boyfriend is perfect and she accepts that she will never be. Wes, though likes flaws. One night they began a game Truth. They keep asking questions back and forth and whoever passes will win the game. Macy begins to accept that her father dying was not her and begans to move on with her life, with the help of Wes. I really enjoyed this book, I thought it brought out a lot of topics about being perfect and if anything would last forever. Macy was a great main character who was easy to identify with. Read it!
Book Review: The Truth About Forever. Summary: 5 Stars
I am a huge fan of Sarah Dessen. She is truly a wonderful author and knows how to make a person visualize. The Truth About Forever is about a girl named Macy who sadly lost her father right in front of her eyes. She is in most parents eyes the perfect child. She gets great grades, has a brainy boyfriend and a job at the local library. This all changes when she sends an email to her boyfriend who is in "braincamp". She signs it Love Macy which apparently makes her a clingy girlfriend even though they've been dating for over a year. Anywho her boyfriend tells her he thinks they need a break and she decides to go out for a ride and winds up joining a catering company. She really grows with these people and though they are different from her usual friends they teach her more than her usual friends ever taught her. This book keeps you reading, its compelling, stylish, funny, a tear-jerker and even witty. Dessen shines as an author.
Book Review: Extraordinary! Summary: 5 Stars
This book was wonderful. I'm starting to love her books! I had heard great things about this one and spetially about "Wes" the main male character. And whoa! This surpassed my expectations. The story is so simple, and yet leaves you so much. She is a magical storyteller, she can turn otherwise plain stories into amazing books with her writing.
The characters were incredible. She always delivers characters so real like they could walk out of the book at any time. And to my surprise, I really liked Macy (I normally like bad girls). And please don't get me started on Wes. He's understanding, former bad boy, extraordinary and most of all, extremely gorgeous.
The cover is really appealing, probably my favorite Dessen cover. After reading it, of course I wonder why they wont pick more fitting covers instead of just pretty ones, but it works anyway. If you like teen romance and gorgeous boys, this is definitely a book for you.
Book Review: Sharply drawn characters Summary: 5 Stars
This books is a perfect nighttime companion. Watching Macy deal with her father's death and the difficulty in trying maintain a facade of perfectionism, kept me reading long past the time I should have been asleep. I particularly loved the supporting characters, Delia, Caroline, Kristy, Monica and Bert. Bert who was so uncomfortably spot-on and recognizable as so many of my friends with their intensity and bravado. Each of these characters felt whole and real, with a fully fleshed out life, with lovable quirks and foibles. Yet they were more than just quirky. My only criticism was the too-perfect-ness of Wes. He felt more like a wish fulfillment than a real person, though he is fantastic at the role of being an object of affection. These characters will stay with you, and you'll find yourself paging back to reread key scenes, especially the extended game of Truth, because you don't want to let these characters go
Book Review: one of the best Summary: 5 Stars
macy was witness to her fathers death and ever since that is what she has been known for, because of that she fells the need to let everyone know that she is "fine" she has a perfect boyfriend and had perfect grades and to everyone she is "fine" when her boyfriend goes away and he thinks she is becoming too attached to him he brakes up with her. to try to get her mind off of the situation she takes a job at Wish a catering company that is anything but perfect. now she not only has friends but she is starting to see that mourning over her fathers death is not a sign of weakness but a normal thing to do. and she gets all of her feelings about her father out through a game of Truth with one of her new coworkers Wes who becomes more then just a coworker... i love this book and think everyone of sarah dessens books are great but this is my favorite i think Wes is the best character and love the story line
