Book Reviews of The Truth about Forever (Teen's Top 10 (Awards))Book Review: This book was amazing!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Have you ever read a book that you couldn't put down? Well, if you haven't and you would like to, The Truth About Forever is the book to read. This book is about a sixteen year old girl who thinks she is going to spend an uneventful summer filling in for her boyfriend at his work. Jason, Macy's boyfriend is away for the whole summer at something called Brain Camp. Macy is kind of looking forward to helping Jason because ever since her father died, she is not in the mood to do anything except work and study for her SAT's. Since her father died, Macy's mother has become so involved in her job that she doesn't even notice that Macy needs her help. Because of this, Macy decides to take a job at Wish catering. Macy expects this to be just a job that will get her through the summer. In contrast of Macy's expectations, working at Wish catering changes Macy drastically.
Macy changes both mentally and physically. The friends that Macy meets at Wish are very outgoing and supportive. Also, Macy meets a boy that she likes. Luckily for her, Jason has broken up with he because he thought that Macy was getting to attached. At first, Macy was very dissapointed that he broke up with her but as her and Wes, the new guy, start getting closer, she starts to be glad they broke up. Finally, when things start to be getting better for Macy, her mother bans her from seeing Wes and she's not allowed to work for Wish any longer. Macy, usually a very good girl, sees Wes anyways. Because this is close to the end of the book, I cannot say anymore. All I can say is that this is a very good book and I suggest that one reads it.
I liked this book because ot was very suspensful throughout the whoole book. Unlike most books, The Truth About Forever is very unpredictable. Another reason why I liked this book was because I could sort of relate to some of the parts. For example, when Macy was banned from working for Wish and seeing Wes, she just couldn't obey her mother. Even though she knew it was wrong, she just thought it was an unfair thing for her mother to do. I have done things like that before where I know it is wrong but I do it anyways because I don't feel it is fair. The Truth About Forever is one of the best books I have ever read. If one hasn't read it yet, I think one should read it because I believe he or she would really enjoy it.

Book Review: A YA Novel Perfect for All Ages Summary: 5 Stars
Although the heroine of this novel, Macy, is only seventeen, it's a wonderful read for anyone who has ever experienced the lost of a love one; for anyone who's strived to be the "perfect" person that everyone can know and love; and for every mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend who has only wanted one thing from life--to be happy, loved, and accepted for who we really are.
The last year and a half has been hard on Macy. After witnessing her father's death after a Christmastime morning run, she's strived to be the "fine just fine" girl--a perfect helper for her mother, a perfect balance to her older sister Caroline's wild days, and a perfect girlfriend to her genius boyfriend.
But when Jason heads off to Brain Camp for the summer and unexpectedly asks for a "break" in their relationship, Macy's world is thrown even more off-kilter. She'd already committed to taking Jason's place at the Library Information Desk for the summer, and she hates the job, and the Miss Perfection girls she gets snubbed by on a daily basis. Her evenings are spent dutifully studying for her SATs the following year, and even her weekends are filled with helping her mother with her business and ironing her clothes for the week.
Then, during a party her mother throws for prospective clients, Macy meets the staff members of Wish, a chaotic catering business. Delia, the very pregnant owner; Kristy, the scarred girl in the outrageous outfits; Monica, the Queen of the One Word Answer; Bert, who's convinced the end of the world is near; and Wes, a boy who spent time in reform school after his parent's divorce and then lost his mother to cancer.
During this particular summer, Macy comes to realize that being the perfect daughter, sister, and girlfriend doesn't stop the world from being a crazy place. It doesn't insulate you from hurt. In fact, being spontaneous, creating new friends, looking outside the shell of a perfect existence, is the only way to realize the truth about forever--it can be two seconds long, or a hundred years. The moment you're living now is your forever, and Macy finally learns how to reach out and grab the moment.
I really loved this book! Although touted as a YA read, I think any woman would enjoy it. It's sad, humorous, and compelling, a definitely wonderful read.
Book Review: beautiful and lyrical Summary: 5 Stars
In the first pages of this first book I have read by Sarah Dessen, I was hooked. No, it is not the deepest read ever, but the writing is smooth, luminous, and completely takes you away. The characters are as real to you, by the time the book is done, that they are almost like the friends you know in real life. The Truth about Forever is a wonderful book, a story that just leaves you desperately wanting more of it.
Seventeen-year-old Macy Queen's father died two and a half years before this book begins, and Macy was there. His loss haunts her inescapably, but she shields her grief, as does her mother, behind busyness: keeping up her grades, doing yoga, and talking to her intelligent, distant boyfriend, Jason. When Jason leaves for "Brain Camp", Macy feels terribly alone: her mother is constantly working, the girls at the info desk in the library, where she works, are exclusive, and worst of all - Jason breaks off their relationship after, at the end of an email, Macy had the nerve to write the word "love". Desperate for something to distract her, Macy signs on to a job with Wish Catering, and her life and her summer are changed.
The chaos of the disorganized crew at Wish is a welcome relief, and soon enough Macy finds herself fully enjoying the job. Plus, there are several quirky and lovable new people that enter her life: Delia, the kind, somewhat frazzled, pregnant woman who owns Wish; Kristy, the blonde partier who's forever on the lookout for an "exceptional guy"; Monica, Kristy's lethargic but apparently deep sister; Bert, a strange guy with an unusual scientific interest in the end of the world; and, of course, Wes, the beautiful, artistic, formerly-convicted boy with whom everyone, including Macy, is secretly in love.
Slowly, as the summer unfolds, Macy comes out of her protective shell against the pain of grief and begins to live again, with the help of these extraordinary characters that, once you close the covers of this book, will surely miss.
