Book Reviews of The True Story of the Three Little PigsBook Review: Poor Wolf...It Wasn't his Fault Summary: 5 Stars
Jon Scieskza never disappoints and he's not starting now. He's taken the story of The Three Pigs and given it a new twist. This time, the story is told by the Big Bad Wolf. Only he really wasn't so bad. It was all a silly mistake. He was only going to the pig houses to borrow a cup of sugar and he had a terrible sneezy cold. And as the wolf says..."The rest is history". Great writing with witty, hip language. Terrific illustrations by Lane Smith. This is a wonderful parody that children of all ages will enjoy and a must for all home libraries.
Book Review: What a blast to read this one aloud!! Summary: 5 Stars
Sure it's a good way to get your youngsters to start to think about the possibility that there is more than one "side" to a story, but that would just make this book sound "educational" and where would be the fun in THAT!?
This book is a delightful story that lends itself to ridiculous levels of "hamming" things up when reading it aloud. Poor, poor wolf with the terrible cold that just needs to bake a cake for his dear old granny. Even my oldest child (12 yob) sticks around to hear me read this "one more time" to my younger children.
Book Review: A new spin on an old story Summary: 5 Stars
This book is the classic story of the "three little pigs" from the wolf's perspective. It is a bit funny, sometimes very funny, but more important, it shows children, that even if you think you KNOW what happened, there is always two sides to every story. It is an entertaining way to teach children not to engage or believe gossip, but to seek out the truth. Additionally, it shows how both sides involved in a conflict, can view the exact same situation in two totally different ways. This is an enagaging and enjoyable story, and fun for all ages!
Book Review: Loved reading this as a kid Summary: 5 Stars
I read this book aloud at my kindergarten graduation (we did a play with the 3 little wolves and this story worked together) and after watching the video of that recently it reminded me of how much I loved this story and I think because of stories like this and the 3 little wolves story I learned to think outside the box and love things that aren't the norm. I encourage any parent to read this book to their children as it is a great story that was really funny and definitely made me think of things differently than everyone else sees them.
Book Review: Wonderful Point of View from the Wolf! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is just simply amazing because it leaves you thinking if there's another side to the story and who is the real criminal to all of these events. This story is in the Wolf's point of view, where he just wanted to borrow a cup of sugar from the three little pigs. But his terrible cold gave him the bad side of the story and the media thought that he was blowing the house down!
I would highly recommend this book because it's hilarious and wonderful images describing the story along. It's a must read for young children!
