Book Reviews of The True Story of the Three Little Pigs

Book Review: Always a favorite
Summary: 5 Stars

I originally got on Amazon to look for the book "The Stinky Cheese Man" because I remembered it from when I was a child. My 7 year old is obsessed with fairy tales and I knew she would love a funny book to add to her collection. Amazon suggested a bundle of books, The Stinky Cheese Man, The Frog Prince Continued, and The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs. We love all three! The illustrations are cute and follow the story nicely. The story is told from the wolf's point of view and, in the words of my daughter, shows that there are two sides to every story. This book would make a great addition to any young reader's library.

Book Review: The TRUE sory of the 3 little pigs
Summary: 5 Stars

I loved this book! This book allowed the wolf to finally explain himself with what happened with the 3 little pigs. The wolf was not trying to eat the pigs all he wanted to do was get an ingredient for his granny's cake. There is a story about the three little pigs already, but in that books it is bias and I think it makes the wolf look bad, when he really isn't. It taught children that the wolf should not always be blamed for the things that happen with animals smaller than he. I think if children read this that they will learn to hear both sides of a problem, and not just assume which is right, and which is wrong.

Book Review: This version will blow you away!
Summary: 5 Stars

Poor Big Bad Wolf - he always gets a bad rap. But now he is here telling his side of the story. According to him, it's all about a sneeze and a cup of sugar. Once again, Smith's illustrations are highly amusing, as is the story of a misunderstood wolf who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (Riiiiiiiight). I love how the story has been jazzed up with phrases such as - "Can you believe it? I mean, who in his right mind would build a house of straw?" (as said by the wolf). This book really is short and sweet and hopefully it will make readers think about whose side of the story is correct.

Book Review: creative and funny
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is great. I'm having trouble parting with it- originally I wanted to give it as a gift- guess I need to order another. I used this book to jumpstart a creative writing assignment in my jr/sr high class. My students were very attentive and curious to see just how the story unfolds. Scieszka's wolf tells a great story about what REALLY happened with him and the 3 little hams. It's very entertaining to the age group prescribed (around 9 yrs old,) and I would add up to adult. (Not for the 3 yr old- my daughter was oh, so bored when I tried it out on her- she didn't get it.)

Book Review: AN ABSOLUTE DELIGHT
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful, delightful and simply funny off take on the old three little pigs story. It is told by the wolf and the story is through his eyes. Now whether you choose to believe his story or not, is completely up to you. The wolf is able to tell a pretty convincing tale, but you just don't really know. This story could be pulled from the newspaper of any of our large city papers today. The author has a true wit about his writing that is appealing to both young and old. The art work is great and fits quite well with the text. Recommend this one quite highly.
