Book Reviews of The ThrowbackBook Review: This book should be sold with a disclaimer Summary: 5 Stars
The Throwback is the funniest book I have ever read (and I was nearly tossed out of a bar in New Hampshire for laughing at Foucault's Pendulum). When I first read it over ten years ago, I nearly did myself grave injury whilst laughing hysterically. I recommend it to all who possess a slightly warped sense of humor (mundanes need not apply) - there is nothing quite comparable from an American author. I am extremely disappointed that it is not currently Review: English black humour at its best. Summary: 5 Stars
I've lost count of the number of times I have read this book. I have lost numerous copies, which I have handed to Family and friends, never to see there return....Only Friends and Family on the end of the telephone, crying with laughter. If I never read another book, I will always be glad I read this. If you haven't been privileged enough to read it yet, do yourself a favour, buy a copy as soon as possible, sit back, relax and enjoy.
Book Review: Perhaps the funniest book I have ever read. Summary: 5 Stars
The base premise is really simple. Guy inherits a street of houses, but they are on long leases at low rent. The only way he can earn a living is to get the residents to leave. So he engages on a meticulously planned campaign of side-splitting terror. The methods employed to rid himself of his reluctant residents are gruesome, medieval but oh so funny. This is Tom Sharpe at his riproaring best.
Book Review: Lockhart Flawse is a hero of Moolgavkarian proportions! Summary: 5 Stars
Tom Sharpe is a genius and The Throwback is his best book by a long chalk. Lockhart Flawse is a hero of Moolgavkarian proportions! His naughty escapades made me laugh so much that I thought my sides were going to split (though that may also have been due to the pendularity of my belly!). I recommend this book to anyone that truly appreciates the English language and enjoys wood shampoos!
Book Review: Funniest book since "A Confederacy of Dunces" Summary: 5 Stars
You have not experienced true laughter until you read this one! I could not believe the things Sharpe put into this book! I tried explaining to people what the book was about, but it's just not possible. If you have a "questionable" sense of humor and enjoy comedy and even a little perversion...this is the ONE you MUST read!
