Book Review: Irony-filled, but not entertaining

I had this on my wish list and was excited when I got it for my birthday, but I was sorely disappointed. Sure, I get that the whole martini thing was intended to be tongue in cheek hyperbole. And even if not, I would completely understand--I have planned and attended several playdates held in London pubs. It was more the "Get out of my way, you snot-nosed rugrats!" attitude that I found unfunny. Yes, many, many children are spoiled, and their parents are perfect objects for ridicule. Elmo, blue box mac and cheese, and Raffi music are miserable inventions, but the alternative can be Mo Willems books, avocado paninis, and Ella Fitzgerald. If you make the choice to breed, it doesn't have to be non-stop Quentin Tarantino, caviar, and The White Stripes. I assume that the author knows this and is trying to be funny, but in my opinion she didn't succeed.
This book seems targeted to humor parents who want to pigeonhole all children as miserable beings who need their spirits broken. Sorry, I just don't find that funny.
