Book Reviews of The Thief Lord

Book Review: *An Enchanting Thriller*
Summary: 5 Stars

I read the book "The Thief Lord" last year, so bare with me. This book is about two brothers, Prosper and Bo. They live with their aunt and uncle who are thinking about sending Prosper away and just keeping Bo. Neither Bo nor Prosper want this to happen. One night, Prosper and Bo run away to a magical, yet mesmerizing and very sensational village called Venice. Venice is where it all happens, people say. Prosper and Bo chose Venice because their mother used to read them stories about this town; how magical it is and how it comes to life sometimes, you just have to find out when. Prosper and Bo meet up with a "gang". THe leader of this gang is named Scipio, a.k.a The Theif Lord. All members in the gang were living on the streets and now The Thief Lord takes them into an old movie theatre where they live. To survive, The Thief Lord steals food, really anything he can get his hands on with out getting caught. So, as you can see, that's where his name came in. I don't really want to tell you the whole book in this overview right now, but I hope you're in suspence and will read it! I also hope you like it as much as I do once you're finished!

Book Review: among the shadows
Summary: 5 Stars

The Thief Lord by Cornilia Funke
The book takes place in Vinice,Italy in present time. In Vinice,Italy there is gange of kids including, the Thief Lord, Bo, and Prosper.
In the book Prosper and Bo have run away from their aunt and uncle to Vinice Italy.Aunt Esther finds out that they are in Vinace and she has hired Victor Gets, a detective, to find Bo and return him to her. But then Thief Lord, the gange, Ida, and Victor try to hide Bo from Esther. One of the bigger conflicts in the book is where they go to meet the Count who sends them on a quest to find a wooden wing for five hundred thousand lire.
I thought the book was an excellant book because it had a little twist an suspense. But I really liked it because of the way Cornilia Funke described the setting and the characters; I could make a picture in my head of the setting.
I would recommenend this book The Thief Lord to people who like books with suspense or advinture.

Book Review: Cornelia Funke will snatch your attenting with this fast pace mystery
Summary: 5 Stars

The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke is a unique blend of mystery and fantasy. This story's main characters are two brothers named Prosper, Bo, and some other run away kids. The children all live together in an old abandoned movie theater with a boy named Scipio who steals to get money to keep the kids alive. Throughout the story they encounter snoops, mean and inconsiderate relatives, an incredibly old, magical merry-go-round and very big secrets. This story is told from a third person point of view, the location of the story is in the magical underworld of Venice, Italy.

I really enjoyed the fast pace and mystery/fantasy of this book. It was interesting to read about what the runaways had to do to stay alive and not get arrested. I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of ten and is looking for a suspenseful, mystery/fantasy/adventure that is all rolled into one story.

Book Review: Briliance, Pure and Simple.
Summary: 5 Stars

The Thief Lord is an enchanting tale of five runaway orphans who, with the help of their friend Scipio the "Thief Lord", end up living in the Stella theatre. I myself have always found books set in the United States to be rather... well, boring. Every one of my favorite books and comics are set outside of the U.S. For instance, Inuyasha, set in Feudal Japan, Planet Janet and Harry Potter, set in Britan, and, of course, The Thief Lord, set in Italy. Recently I have become rather picky about what I read, and have found that there are few books that really grab my attention. This book is the first in months that really grabbed me. I really felt as though I were a part of the events, as Cornelia Funke does an excellent job of painting a vivid picture in the reader's mind. I have read many adult books, classics, childrens books, and teens books alike. This book is easily one of the best I have ever read.
