Book Reviews of The TestamentBook Review: Viva Rachel - a new Woman for All Seasons Summary: 5 Stars
Grisham's ever-innovative, constantly altering writing style - seen this time in some quarters as burdened with one-dimensional fundamentalism - appropriately establishes the forum for his simplistic, singly-focused heroine Rachel Lane. She is a bigger-than-literature characterization (or, more correctly, SMALLER-than..?...), in any case, a transcendent. Though categorically less urbane, Lane nonetheless embodies elements of Franz Werfel's Bernadette Soubirous; The Spanish Civil War's La Bandera Roja Dolores Ibarruri; A CAT'S FULL NINE's courageous and beautiful Ximena Del Rio Nuñez. Grisham predictably introduces something newly sprung with each of his works; which - for better or worse - no surprise - is what Rachel is.
Book Review: Hey This is a great book! Summary: 5 Stars
To all you simple minded bastards out there who couldn't stand books about Brazil, Southern lawyers or conversions to God, Get A Life. I didn't find any misspellings and I didn't think it was trash. Read the book, let your mind go, have fun. Grisham only wants to take you on an adventure to place you will never go. Why isn't anyone mentioning how amazing the Patanal Region sounds? If you want to read classics read classics. Grisham offers this book to us hoping we enjoy. There is no reason for him to feel it's bad. One other thing, don't come onto Amazon.com to write sux or hated it. You suck for writing that. This is a great book tht I loved reading and I hope others won't attack John Grisham for writing this book.
Book Review: One of his best! Summary: 5 Stars
John Grisham is one of my favorite authors, and I think The Testament is one of his best books. From the shocker of a beginning of The Testament to the last page, Grisham's descriptions of alcoholic Attorney Nate O'Riley's reluctant boat rides up the Paraguay River into the Pantanal of Brazil in search of the mystery sole heir of a multi-billion dollar estate all bring vivid images into the minds of the readers, and keep one riveted to the book. I keep waiting for this story to be made into a movie as so many of his other books have been. If it was kept true to the book....My opinion: It would be a blockbuster! The Testament
Book Review: FANTASTIC!! WONDERFUL!! PHENOMENAL!! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered two books from Amazon to read over my two week vacation this summer. One was, 'The TESTAMENT' and the other was, 'THE FIST OF GOD' by A.T. Nicholas. Grisham's Testament was fantastic and simply well written. I found it smooth and engaging with every turn of the page. The ending wasn't as strong as I expected, but it's still a wonnderful and great read. 'The Fist of God' by A.T. Nicholas was phenomenal. A great good vs evil storyline set in the middle of a presidential campaign. The plot unfolds through the eyes of a homicide detective, who becomes a reluctant participant in the bloody battle for power and souls. Nicholas writes just as well as Grisham, but different. Two great novels. Highly recommended!
Book Review: A good book that renewed my faith in humans to do good! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is pure Grisham, especially the last few books, including The Street Lawyer. In this book, a character's life is redeemed through meeting someone utterly selfless. Although I enjoy Grisham's hard-hitting thrillers, I found The Testament even more of a thrill to read. Today, with all the violence in the world, it is refreshing for a writer to focus on the ability to change one's life without destroying others. Though I hoped the greedy kids would have received nothing, I was appeased by knowing they would not have the money long. I highly recommend this book. It is an easy read, and it will leave you thinking of who you are and which character you most resemble. That alone is worth the cost of the book.
