Book Reviews of The Testament

Book Review: His best in years-and a Christian novel to boot!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just finished reading Scott Turow's latest, and I wasn't sure if I was ready for another legal page-turner (the Turow, btw, truly sucked lemons!). I certainly enjoyed this one. I was pleased to see a Christian theme of redemption as the centerpiece of a contemporary novel. This seems to be a growing phenomenon in American culture: more and more of us baby boomers are beginning to acknowledge our old-time religion in order to make sense of our lives. See "Three Kings" in the theaters for other examples of characters who find the strength to do heroic deeds through Christian faith. I'm encouraged.

This was just a great book. I think the heirs could have been drawn a little more sympathetically, but their materialism and greed ring true to life. The sharpie lawyer Hark Gettys was fascinating; I hope to see him again sometime, Mr. Grisham.

Book Review: Absolutely Wonderful Book
Summary: 5 Stars

Have you ever been astounded by the shallow behavior of someone? This Grisham masterpiece delivers the justice that those people deserve. Although the protagonist is by no means an angel, his children are the epitome of greed, corruption and privilege and he teaches them a lesson that is richly deserved.

The other half of this novel is a warm story about the other side of life, where personal growth, charity and compassion are highlighted, restoring the reader's faith in the good of life.

I think Grisham does a masterful job telling this story where greed and gluttony are punished and sincerity is rightly rewarded. You can't help but feel good after reading this book, which you will probably do within hours of cracking the cover. I've read it three times already and will probably do so at least another three. Great novel.

Book Review: almost an awakening!!....
Summary: 5 Stars

It starts as interesting as all of Grishams books, but as it goes deep into its chapters, it becomes more and more amazingly interesting. You will learn from it, as well as you will laugh with it, and then you will cry with it. I think that in some way this book relates to just about everyone. The theme of the book relies on the cases of the legal (material) world we live in, but I think that the real core of the book lies in the spirituality that takes place in the most inner part of the book.
After I finished the book, I somehow felt like a new part of ME had been awakened, and believe it or not, all of a sudden i just felt like smiling at the whoe world.
I think that you should give this book a try, and experience what i experienced... you will very much enjoy it.
PS. Ignore my grammar please, english is my second language

Book Review: The best Grisham Book Yet!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Testament is a trek with Nate O'Reilly, a lawyer who has been to the top and found nothing there. As Nate reaches the bottom, he finds himself on the adventure of his life in the Brazilian jungle. Through his adventures, Nate finds the true meaning of life, while other characters strive for the pinicle from where Nate reached the top and fell.

I Loved this book! Grisham's readers (audio tapes) have always been of great caliber; however, the reader of the Testament surpasses them all. You must hear the unabridged version on audio tape for the full flavor. I haven't even finished hearing this book and I can't wait to talk about it.

Testament is a departure from Grisham's other books and yet it shows how the author has matured in his writing. The characters are more defined, fuller and more human and realistic.

Book Review: Superlative Grisham!!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you have hoped for Grisham to find his stride again, this should prove he has. I personally found a couple of his last books good, but out of step, so to speak. Testament comes roaring back yelling GRISHAM! in your face. This is classic Grisham. This is a Grisham story the end of which you don't know until the last couple of pages. This is Great Storytelling! You can read the synopsis, which is better than I could write here. Just believe me when I say to you that no synopsis can do the plot, story, and compelling nature of the story justice. Neither can it capture the sense of being somewhere else that Grisham captures masterfully. This is a Great Story from a Great Storyteller. Read this book, but be prepared to be pulled along by your eyelashes. Putting this hummer down is a real problem. GREAT BOOK!
