Hi, my name is Ron Saglimbene. I am both a competitive wrestler as well as Division I coach pursuing a PhD in exercise physiology. This is the most comprehensive and specific hand to hand combat book available today. No other book addresses functional combat sport strength, endurance, agility, nutrition, and education of the metabolic systems as presented in Training for Warriors. Every exercise in this book is presented to the reader with both technical and physiological purpose.

Examples:

-Combat sports involve clinches and holds. This demands a great deal of isometric strength, an area of training often overlooked by coaches. From building isometric hand grip strength to isometric strength/endurance of the legs, this book addresses all the latest techniques.
-For the weight class athlete, this book acklowledges and attempts to tackles healthy eating as well as weight cutting techniques. Most other nutritional books I have read shy away anything to do with "weight cutting". This often leaves the weight class athlete without any direction at all.
-Sled training for fighters is a truly revolutionary and biomechanically sound exercise for combat athletes.

As a coach I have implemented many of the training techniques present in this book. Nonetheless, the dynamic warm-up is the most important in preserving the physical health and core strength of my athletes. The dynamic warm-up has not only become a staple in practice, but it is a great way to gauge weaknesses in an athlete's function strength and endurance capacities.
