Book Reviews of The Sweet Potato Queens' Book of LoveBook Review: Beloved Consort lives by the "SPQ Bbile" Summary: 5 Stars
Hunny! This book has changed the lives of myself and my Queen (The Boss Queen of the Sweet Tea Queens-- a proud chapter of the SPQs). After being nudged into reading the books, I "got it" instantly, and held on as my wife promptly formed a chapter, gathered queens, paraded on a float around the Southeast and as the grand finale-- went to Jackson--Mecca for SPQ Wannabe Wannabes. Is the book entertaining? Well, DUH! Will you look at life differently afterwards? Prolly! Will you make a sequin costume, buy a big 'ol tiara and sache around your hometown like the Queen you always knew you were? Hunny, if you don't, somebuddy needs to hit ya upside the haid with a wet squirrel! No, really! Loveyameanit an' see y'all in Jackson!
Book Review: A Queen admirer Summary: 5 Stars
I found this book quite by accident and am so glad I did. I read it in one day because I couldn't stop giggling. I can relate to the "Queens" and their need for "lolling" in the bath tub as well as the chocolate "fixes". Anyone that reads this book will surely understand what it is really like to feel as though you have the power to rule the world (or at least those around you). I went running to the bookstore the very next day for several more copies (no, way am I giving mine up)to send as gifts. Thanks, Ms. Browne, for writing such a wonderful book and I can't wait for the next installment. It is good to know that there is a little "Suzanne Sugerbaker" in all of us.
Book Review: It's OK to be regal! Summary: 5 Stars
Although SOME folks will never understand it (bless their hearts!), this book is an absolute jewel and a wonderful revelation that we are ALL special women. Why should beauty pageant winners and homecoming queens be the only ones who get to wear a tiara and wave the "queenly wave"? I believe the author sums it up pretty well when she states that life is waaaaay too short for us to waste it by being unhappy and unsatisfied. To that end, why not stick a crown on your head if it makes you feel better? It's a heckofa whole lot cheaper than seeing a shrink, and you'll have the pleasure of meeting a huge sisterhood of women full of heart, stamina and yes, humor. It makes me proud to be numbered among them.
Book Review: Uplifting, encouraging and all together orgasmic! Summary: 5 Stars
I cannot express in a mere 1000 words how much I enjoyed this book. I am determined to use this book as my new guide to life as a Southern woman! I intend to live my life as a perpetual lady in waiting a/k/a Wannabe and make all of my dreams come true. With this book in hand, I know that I will be able to live the rest of my life in a regal state and demand and command the respect, honor and devotion that a true Queen deserves. I highly recommend this book to any woman who has ever been in the company of man and who intends to allow men in her presence in the future. This will give her the appropriate criteria for attracting and maintaining males of a superior kind - if they exist at all!
Book Review: The only book every woman should read! Summary: 5 Stars
Jill Conner Browne is one of the best humorists of our time. After I bought The Sweet Potao Queens' Book of Love, I couldn't put it down or stop laughing out loud. I garuntee that as soon as you pick up this book you will not be able to put it down or stop yourself from laughing out loud at the pure wit and southern humor of Jill Connor Browne. I am definitely a Sweet Potato Queen Wannabe and you will be too after you read this book. I can't wait to see what Jill Conner Browne comes out with next!
