Book Review: I laughed 'til I cried!!

Another fast summer read!! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to try out Miss Tammy's recipes! I wished that I had read this two years ago when it was first published. I think it definitely has changed some of my attitudes! In fact, tomorrow I am going to have breakfast at a new place on indy's westside. (It looks outrageous-colorwise and the fact that there are fake palm trees.) Anyway, it has motorcycle parking. Not that I am into cyclists but it sure can spice up some conversations for the day! Shortly, I will head out to the local "upscale" bookstore to pick up Miss Browne's second book. Yes, I called ahead and they are holding one for me. Meanwhile, on my way home, I will pick up ingredients for the Butterfinger cookie recipe. YUM!!! For laughs and curiosities if you have always played by THE GOOD GIRLS RULES, get a copy of the SWEET POTATO QUEENS-BOOK OF LOVE!!! Enjoy!Book Review: Ya Ya Wannabes? Be Something Better!

If you haven't sat down to read some good Southern advice in a while, pick up a copy of The Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love. As the subtitle states, this is a fallen Southern Belle's look at love, life, men, marriage and being prepared. If you enjoyed the Ya Ya Sisterhood, you'll love this real life look at how to be a Ya Ya or even something better! I absolutely howled with laughter (something NOT acceptable to the Sweet Potato Queens) when I read about the "magic words" that will make any man do your biding. While it might be hard to force yourself to say the words they suggest the first time, I can assure you, from personal experience, that it does work. And, as they say, follow through on the promises made are not necessary. Curious about the magic words? Pick up a copy of the book. I promise you, all you Sweet Potato Wannabees, that you'll love it. Just remember to laugh in a pleasant manner.Book Review: I laughed till I about wet my pants!

If you are a Southern woman with a sense of humor, you MUST read this book! I laughed until it hurt. I was utterly COMPELLED to read several parts out loud to my husband so he'd stop giving me strange looks! LOLPart of what made it so funny is because it was so TRUE!
Plus, this is not a fictional work. It is a humor book, so if you are in the mood for a 'pick-me-up' this is the book for you.
Full of authentic Southern colloquialisms (sp?) that will "tickle you pink". Where else do you find books in print that use the words "fixin' to"??? For you Northerners that is a Southern term meaning "about to", as in "I'm fixin' to go to the store." And you'll even get the "southernisms" as I like to call them spelled out for you exactly the way we say them. :)
Have fun reading this book and its sequel, "God Save the Sweet Potato Queens".

I am still drying my tears of laughter from reading this book in about 24 hours. ( sleep time figured in too!) I couldn't put the blessed thing down. Jill Conner Browne has a sense of humor that I thought was so refreshing I went right out and bought the ingredients to "Chocolate Stuff" and "Fat Mama's Knock You Naked Margaritas." If you are looking for a saucy, point blank, down and dirty, honest look at "the way it really is", (love, that is, and a lot of other bits of life wisdom), you have to buy this book now! You won't ever waste your time again with another self-help book or a book of "rules" again, you won't need them. Jill nails the bottom line with her attitude and opinions and you'll sware she just said exactly what has run through your mind many times. My hat's off to you Jill, and I can't wait to start a Sweet Potato Queen Club!!! Amen!Book Review: Order extra---all your friends will want yours.

When I first picked up this book I was killing time one Friday evening (feeling a little sorry for myself for not having a hot date). Within a few pages I was laughing out loud so hard that people were staring. I knew I would buy it regardless of price. All evening I laughed until I almost lost my breath. Three quarters of the way through I started e-mailing everyone I knew to RUN and find the book.
For any Southern woman (or sympathetic poor soul from somewhere else) it is a must. Am ordering a copy for my soon to be 71 year old Mother and extras for my favorite friends. I think Mother will get most of it, and the parts she's fuzzy on we will explain. A couple of Knock You Naked Margaritas ought to take care of it.
An absolutely perfect way to feel better within minutes of starting it. Jill Connor Browne may say the things that I have always thought better than anyone alive.
