Book Reviews of The Space Between Us: A Novel (P.S.)Book Review: Wonderful novel ... Summary: 5 Stars
This beautifully written novel will stick with me for months to come. It is a real, conflicted story about the love, distrust, duty and dishonor between two very different classifications of women in Bombay. I could not put this novel down and was lulled and amazed by the poetic, but yet not obtuse, writing. Few authors can pull off the combination of art, plot and character development so well. I will definitely search out her other writings.
Book Review: Important Fiction Summary: 5 Stars
A beautiful, absorbing, heartbreaking glimpse into the world of the invisible ones. A chance to shed your own shoes and walk in the world in another person's chappells. Have you ever thought about how lucky you are to be born in to a privileged life and what it is like to be less fortunate? If so, read this book. Reading this has made me a more compassionate person and compassion is much needed in this world of ours.
Book Review: Spectacular Summary: 5 Stars
I loved this book. It's a very credible read. The author has lived in India and experienced first hand "the space between us". She developed the characters well. I could hardly put the book down because I wanted to know what happened next. It is one of the best books I've read in a long time besides THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY. In my estimation both books are a MUST READ.
Book Review: A Beautiful Story Summary: 5 Stars
This is a wonderful, haunting book that I read in one sitting. The characters are intriguing, and I was fascinated by the complex relationship between Bhima and Sera. There are not a lot of novels set in India; I enjoyed the way Umrigar allowed me a glimpse into their culture. I don't have time to read too many books for pleasure, unfortunately, but I'm sure glad I happened to pick this one up.
Book Review: The Space Between All of Us Summary: 5 Stars
This is a beautifully written book which can transcend so many different cultures, lifestyles and places. The bond that grew between the different groups of women was magical to me. And, to once again, read a book in which the women are strong and withstand incredibly painful situations continues to make me realize how powerful women are. Highly recommend this book to everyone.
