Book Reviews of The Sight (Warriors: Power of Three, Book 1)

Book Review: Sissies - Horror of Three #1: Helper Kitty
Summary: 1 Stars

Hi, I'm Chocolate Dog, a huge Warriors fan. First of all, I'd like to say this is more of a review on the Power of Three series in general. This book stars Lionpaw, a slightly violent but otherwise fine cat, Hollypaw, who is bent on harmony and peace between the clans even if it means harming her own, and Jaypaw, a blind cat who's twice as prideful as a peacock and super-sensitive. Jaypaw learns that he and his siblings have the power of the stars in their paws, which makes him even more prideful, even more so in later books, where he clearly states that he and his siblings are above the Warrior Code and StarClan (a clearly blatant lie - the Warrior Code is rules for ALL cats, regardless of their measure of power. For example, in a story I made up merely to counter the Power of Three, Ravenpaw comes back to ThunderClan and brings back more of the clan's ancient spirit. He points out to Jaypaw, "You are a little blind medicine cat, so I have the power to kill you if I want. Should I?" And anyway, the Warrior Code is for the enhancement of clan life, and it's for your own good to follow it. At one point, Tigerclaw/Tigerstar was the most powerful cat in the forest. Did that give him the right to do the awful things he did?). Anyways, after those long perenthises, I'll go back on track. This series clearly states "The other clans are our friends. We should help them!" Someone ought to tell these mouse-brains the story of when Blackstar, back when he was Blackfoot, killed a ThunderClan elder and then tried to steal some kits. How friendly-like. This cat is definitely our friend. The original series of Warriors books were GREAT! This totally downplays the series and positively spits on the Warrior Code. Why do you think they're called Warriors? StarClan clearly doesn't think it is wrong to fight when neccessary, or possibly even steal prey if it's a matter of your clan's survival. You have no idea how long I could rant on about how much I hate the Power of Three. And there's this weird part where they uncover this mystery about how Cinderpelt reincarnated into Cinderheart...but Leafpool already discovered that in the last New Prophecy book. In conclusion, you could read this book if you checked it out from the library...and I sort-of-kind-of-almost like this series, but each flaw is as big as the Empire State Building, so don't buy it.

Summary of The Sight (Warriors: Power of Three, Book 1)

There will be three, kin of your kin . . .

The wild cats have flourished in their new home on the banks of the lake for several seasons, and the Clans are growing strong and healthy with new kits. The time has come for three kits of ThunderClan to become apprentices.

Hollypaw, Jaypaw, and Lionpaw spring from a strong legacy: children of Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw, two of the noblest ThunderClan warriors, and grandchildren of the great leader Firestar himself. All three young cats possess unusual power and talent and seem certain to provide strength to the Clan for the next generation.

But there are dark secrets around the three, and a mysterious prophecy hints at trouble to come. An undercurrent of rage is rising against those who are not Clanborn, and the warrior code is in danger of being washed away by a river of blood. All the young cats' strength will be needed if the Clans are to survive.

. . . who hold the power of the stars in their paws.
