Book Reviews of The Seventeen Traditions

Book Review: It All Starts at Home. (Character, Success, Respect, Responsibility, etc)
Summary: 5 Stars

Five stars/cheers for Mr. Nader. I am a pediatrician and author of recent book entitled "It All Starts at Home, 15 Ways to Put Family First."(2004) Truly, our families are the foundation of our great society. Many of the family values that made our nation great are under attack. Mr Nader's book encourages us to go to battle to recapture and secure our "tour of duty" of being effective parents--families. He relays his message in a way that any young adult/parent can understand. This book should be required reading for all high school seniors. What a lovely mother's or father's day gift?

Book Review: Gem of a Book, Highly Recommended for All
Summary: 5 Stars

Many pearls of wisdom in Ralph Nader's short, but beautifully written book, reflecting on his family values in his upbringing. Hopefully, our American society and culture can take the best of that era (ie., 1940's, 1950's) and learn from it. Many of us, myself included, recall the pleasant traditions that Nader presents, and in my opinion, need to be reinforced and emphasized in our present day of run-away materialism. Well worth reading and keeping as part of one's library.

Reminds me, in some ways, of Khalil Gibran's reflections, idealism and writings of an earlier age.

Book Review: A joy to read
Summary: 5 Stars

I found this little book refreshing and uplifting. It chronicles the unique upbringing of the American crusader Ralph Nader. He shares with the reader some of the everyday moments and aha moments from his childhood that shaped the man he became. He inspires the reader to contemplate their own family traditions and to think about how they would like to raise the next generation of children. Parents, grandparents and mentors in general have a lot to learn from this book. I would recommend this book and have given it as a gift to several people I care a great deal for.

Book Review: Seventeen Traditions
Summary: 5 Stars

Love this book. It triggered memories from my own childhood and reaffirmed my belief that open space and opportunity to enjoy planet earth is integral to a child's healthy upbringing. What a wonderful upbringing Ralph and his siblings enjoyed. His parents were ahead of their time in smart, healthy, grounded techniques for raising interesting children who know how to contribute to their community and the world around them. I appreciate all the good things Ralph has done for the rest of us and thank him for donating his time and talents for just that.

Book Review: Required Reading for All Parents, Teachers and Citizens Concerned About the Future
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is a treasure and what I deem to be a must-read for practically everyone. Ralph Nader identifies and most eloquently relates seventeen traditions that molded the person he became: a staunch advocate of citizen rights, an uncompromised proponent of justice and one of the most accomplished and influential individuals of our time.

Everyone can benefit from the reading of this book. On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, this book deserves 6 stars.
