Book Review: Powerful message that all could use!

I've seen the DVD version of THE SECRET, but had never actually
read the book (with the same title) by Rhonda Byrne.
So I was delighted to be able to listen to the above when a friend
lent me her CD tapes . . . if you're not familiar with the premise,
it is about something called the Law of Attraction . . . in essence, it says
like attracts like . . . you can get anything in life you want if you are open
to receiving it in a positive fashion . . . the key is to avoid negativity.
When reading or listening to the book, you may not think there's much
to it . .. the same message seems to keep repeating itself . . . and
though there's an impressive list of authors/consultants who are
cited (among them Jack Canfield, John Gray, Bob Proctor, and
Rev. Michael Beckwith), what they have to say at times comes
across a bit choppy.
However, I carp . . . let me instead share just a few of the powerful
Insights that I gained from listening to THE SECRET:
* Whatever thought is in your mind, you're attracted to it.
* See yourself living in abundance, and you will attract it.
* What you think about most will appear as your life.
* It's impossible to be feeling bad and having good thoughts at the
same time.
* If you praise and bless your enemies, you will feel your attitudes shifting.
* We'll never run out of things because life is me ant to be abundant.
And this one that I've been thinking about ever since I finished
THE SECRET:
* You are not your past. Whenever I reflect on book long after I've finished it, I know that's a winner for me . . . that's the case with what Byrne had to write; I still find myself thinking about it even as I type this review!

I have not yet read the book, but have viewed the DVD several times. I think the concepts presented here are excellent, and provide hope which is the main ingredient in our pursuit of happiness. Contrary to many negative reviews, there was no message where inaction will bring about your deepest desires. On the contrary, it gives you inspiration to keep working towards your goals. So what if it advises that visual aids will keep you focused and that perseverance is essential in bringing into reality your desires?! Continued belief in yourself and maintaining hope in a happy outcome is hard work, especially with all the negative feedback we receive from society or those around us.
I was not offended by the packaging as "The Secret", I am familiar with other authors and positive mental attitude teachers such as Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, Earl Nightingale "The Strangest Secret", W. Clement Stone (who is referenced to as a coach on the DVD), Napoleon Hill, and I loved seeing Dr. Dennis Waitley make an appearance on the DVD. They were all familiar with the Secret, and at the beginning of the DVD, the narrator is surprised at how many know the Secret. And obviously "THE SECRET", is a secret for many, otherwise why has this book and movie become so popular and controversial?
In the DVD there was no message that afflictions are brought about by the victims. Many of the speakers on the DVD recount about their own dysfunctional backgrounds or medical and health conditions that they overcame. However that there are negative people, situations and outcomes that people do attract to them... yes, and does that idea knot some people's underwear!! In an era that glamorizes victims or blaming anyone or anything except you, that pill does not go down easy.
I think the Secret is great. Have open mind... will travel!
Book Review: Life Changing!!

I saw the movie and purchased the book the following day (surprisingly, they're the same)....
anyway, this book is life changing, i have been using the law of attraction for the past 3 years, and my life had been changed upside down, i attracted the woman of my dream, my business is doing better than ever and i took on a huge client, which i had no chance of getting and everybody told me that my company is not "big enough" to get - and i did!!! i moved to the city and my life had really changed for the better - than - I've been through some tough times, just like anybody else, but i managed to pull it off by using the law of attraction, i kept imagining in my mind, over and over again - that my financial situation was getting better, i started telling my mom and dad how great i was doing, i honestly believed in it - 3 months later i was doing great again... it's amazing, one thing that happen that i will never forget, is that i wrote a not to myself, and all i written on it was $20,000, i put in under my keyboard and totally forgot about it, 2 months later i got 20K from a big client, when i moved out, i cleaned my desk - and there it was , the note... $20,000, that's all its said....
that being said...
the secret works on one other condition that they fail to describe in the book and the movie...
on certain things - you need to work hard, and use the secret to attract the things you want...
if i didn't bust my ass to get that client i would not have made that money, but - visualizing it and working on it, allowed me to attract it faster! - which is the point of the book.
don't think that it's all about wishful thinking, think big, visualize, use the secret, and bust your ass to achieve your dreams , and they will come true...
Awesome book, 1000 stars, life changing!!!!
Book Review: Not just Good, It is Positively Inspiring!

I owned all three media: the book, the CD and the DVD. I think the CD is by far the best. I get to listen to all the Great Secret teachers in one CD while I am driving my daughter to school or running errands. The CD is beautifully arranged and recorded. Rhonda Byrne did an awesome job in narrating and connecting all the points of the secret. It is basically thoughts are things; like attracts likes. I listened to the CD at least twenty times.
My two favorite quotes from John D. Martini, "...When the voice and the vision become more profound, clear and loud than the opinions on the outside, you have mastered your life, p146."
My other favorite quote is from Michael Beckwidth, "I believe that you are great that there is something magnificent about you regardless of what has happened to you in your life. The moment you begin to "think properly" this something that is within you this power within you that is greater than the world, it will begin to emerge, it will take over your life. It will feed you. It will clothe you. It will guide you, protect you, direct you and sustain your very existence, p183." Wow!!!
All these must be coming from one's subconscious mind. And if one's world from within is not manifested in the world without, one needs to change one's subconscious mind. How is one going to change one's subconsious mind? Check out some of these great books:

Book Review: Believe it and you will see it!

As a therapist and life coach I am always on the search for meaningful material to share with others and to apply to my own life. I have a huge library and this book & DVD is, in my opinion, the very best. I tried the principles in it and within 3 days wonderful new things started happening. We created a vision board with three pictures: a child to add to our family, land we wanted, and our dream home. All three have come to pass! !! I could fill pages with similar stories I have witness and been a part of. The principles are nothing new to me but the application was enlightening. Many criticize the materialistic aspect because of their attitude about money. This DVD is not about money but about creating greater potential in life in relationships, health, finances, self worth, spirituality, and more. It teaches of gratitude, forgiving, believing, working towards goals or vision, and accepting the blessing you receive knowing your thoughts, feelings, and efforts played a part in it. I have witnessed miracles in the lives of those I share it with. I have seen people overcome great trials and embrace happiness. Having money is not happiness - neither is being poor and in debt. A balance in all areas of our lives creates peace and harmony.
My advice is watch it, realize that "the universe" is God, and look for anything that pops out at you and then try it. If something doesn't feel right let that part go. If your car had a scratch in it would you turn it in to the dump for scrap? Remember: "When you wish upon a star - your dreams come true" - Walt Disney (who lived his dream)
My advice to those who don't believe - you are also living the principle of attraction even in your disbelief - "whether you believe you can or you can't - you are right" -Henry Ford
