Book Review: Easy to read

I have read many of Delinsky's books and loved them. This story was easy to read, but I never felt the empathy for the characters that I should have felt. The story of Poppy the Grandfather never fully developed and also the story with the ex-husband never felt real? It all ended to tidy as many reviewers have pointed out. Barbara is too good a writer to rush the ending like she did. If you want a quick read that is average this is a great book for you, otherwise stay away.Book Review: Humdrum ho hum

I listened to this book on CD and there were times when I wanted to give up on it entirely. The leading character was a doormat for everyone and her Father, Michael, was the absolute worst. I found this book very frustrating and at times I just wanted to scream. But I kept thinking this is Barbara Delinsky surely it's going to get better. Wrong! You may read it and love it but based on some of the other reviews I don't think I'm alone with my disappointment.
Book Review: Good story, bad ending

I am a huge fan of Delinsky, but this book disappointed me. The story was good, about the relationship between mother and daughter, and about lying. But the ending was so contrived and "tidy" that it really angered and disappointed me for sticking with the book all the way through. The ending (I won't give it away here) was a very unfortunate and "easy" way to wrap up the storyline. Delinsky can do much, much better than this.Book Review: Lifetime Movie?

This book could not hold my attention and took me over a month to get through. I basically read it to fall asleep at night and not because it was terrible per se, but because it just slow paced and boring. I could definitely see it being a Lifetime movie or an okay summer read but I wouldn't exactly recommend it to anyone or say it was one of the better books I've read.Book Review: Just okay

I have never read Barbara's book but I read a review in a recent magazine article. I was very drawn to the story. I have to say that I kept on waiting for something to happen. The beginning was awesome but then it never picked itself up. Kind of bummed because I was looking forward to it and seldom buy something in hard cover. Not that great of a book.
