Book Reviews of The Scarecrow

Book Review: Exactly what I want in a thriller
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought The Scarecrow one miserable Thursday afternoon as a purely escapist read. Something to take the mind off the nonsense the world at large was creating. And it worked, as I hoped it would. The pages flew by and nothing else mattered - phones rang, people yelled and the dishes didn't get done... Too bad it had to come to an end.

Connelly is a solid writer who spins a great tale of imperfect good and purely evil evil. The plot is tight, the dialogue a joy to read, and the narration allows for identification with Jack McEvoy while watching the villain from up close and personal.

Great fun.

Book Review: Spellbinding, the very definition of a page turner!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Scarecrow is one of the best books I have read this summer. Michael Connolly creates a thriller that vibrates with tension, twists and turns. As is the case with all great thrillers, you know who the bad guy is and rather than being a spoiler, it makes the book all the more exciting to read. The characters are well developed and the action is plotted very well. No one here is superhuman but instead they are intelligent and highly motivated much like real people.

This is a perfect beach or pool side read. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to dive into a book and not find themselves bored by page 30!

Book Review: This guy is so good in his zone
Summary: 5 Stars

I love MC books, but I actually like these characters better than Bosch. Connelly really knows this subject matter (reporting/law enforcement procedural) and brings it to life with a totally up to date plot construction. Best book since the Poet and actually more interesting (although I read the Poet so long ago, I could be wrong). I do like the way the Poet is woven into the story.

Don't miss this one; it's the best of its genre, which seems to be growing overpopulated with much weaker versions from other authors who are cashing in on (our/my) looking for the next great character driven procedural.

Book Review: Another Phenominal Michael Connelly Book!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I think that everything that Michael Connelly writes is phenomenal and this is no exception!!!! Great plot, interesting and believable psychopathic killer antagonist, I could not put it down!!! The main thing I hate about Michael Connelly books is that I can't stop reading them until I am finished so they never last!!! The dialogue is eminently believable; the plot sometimes stretches but real life is sometimes stranger than fiction. What more can I say?? It is a page turner. The only guy who comes close to Connelly is Robert Crais, sometimes I wonder if Crais is a pseudonym for Connelly.

Book Review: Michael delivers again......!
Summary: 5 Stars

This will be short and sweet....I cannot be more thrilled when a new book of his comes out....I savor every word this talent puts on paper. I especially noted the view of the current situation newspapers are in and how a reporter might deal with this matter. The way this whole story is revealed and solved is just brilliant and regardless of the few negative comments this is a book to savor on many levels. I like this character and hope we will continue to hear from him.
