Book Review: If God is for us...
Summary: 5 Stars
No one can be against us? Is that what you said a few spaces down? Huh. Funny. You forgot remedial syntax in the translation, and it spells out one thing: stupidity. Try pulling your head out of the bible and take a look around you- what do you see? Do you see a God that cares about the starving children? Do you see a God that prevents murder and rape?Your God supposedly loves us.
Yeah, right.
If he existed, what reason would we have to love HIM?
This is a forum for the review of the item listed, not a morality play. We all have opinions. We are all entitled to share them. My review is listed already. The author doesn't believe in Satan. Satan is a metaphor, as the Amazon.com editor noted, a concept which clearly eluded your devolved pre-cambrian brain. Hence, the reason you couldn't understand the metaphorical context of the material contained with this book.
I don't think you read it. Christians rarely read what they critisize, much less understand it. Perhaps I'm being steriotypical; prove to me why I should not be. Just make sure to go back to school before you try, or you'll give Christianity a worse name than it already has (if that's possible).
Read the book. Judge for yourself, and have a great day.
Book Review: An amalgam of insight into every person's hidden desires!

As an official Grotto Master of the Church of Satan, one might expect me to review this book. Honestly, I had my reservations. Why would any sane or logical person accept a belief system such as Satanism solely on my opinion? "The Satanic Bible" exemplifies all that is truly Satanic. Dr. LaVey codified something that numerous people never had the nerve to do. He gave it a name--Satanism. Anton LaVey stepped forward in 1966 to announce his allegiance with the forces of Darkness--those untrodden forces in his own psyche. Thus he delineated those forces in this book. "The Satanic Bible" not only explains the religion, but it challenges each of us to accept the Dreaded Name, to no longer be guilded by the glamour of the white light religiositers, and to no longer be ashamed of who we are. I encourage all people, Satanists or not, to read the book. Can anyone say that they do not want to better themselves or better understand why they do what they do? No. This book answers questions people have always had, but were too afraid to ask. Seek and ye shall find. Knowledge is power. Enrich your life as so many before you have done--buy the book. Lavey was a con artist that did everything with a wink and a smirk. The idea of worshipping Satan, even in the symbolic way that Lavey was into, seems completely retarded to me. Why replace one Jewish diety with another Jewish diety? Laveys take on Satan himself is more along the lines of Satan as a kinky horny party animal with an intellectual side as opposed to the Christian interpretation of some ultimate evil conspirater bent on tricking you into roasting in hell for eternity. Some of his take on magic is interesting, some of it is stupid. The "Enochian Keys" section of the book, which is close to half of it, is a waste. More Lavey showmanship than anything else.
All these negatives however are overrided by the great observations on Christianity and all the guilt ridden pathologies it causes. Also many dead on observations of human nature as well as sexuality. I find it really funny that many people took Lavey seriously as this sinister figure and I'm sure the humor of this wasn't lost to him either. But whats good in the Satanic Bible is so great that it overrides the stupidity and showmanship/con game he was playing. Overall this was a fun book to read that contained some real gems of truth.

Anton LaVey simply put years of misconception about Satanism into one easy to read (if the reader has a complete open mind) book. Many people still think of "Satanism" as devil-worship. The one thing that Satanism has in common with Christianity is the many different paths within the same road. "Satanism" is a very broad term. What Anton did with this book is simply clear up a lot of common misconceptions of the term and provide a system of beliefs through years of study and his own life experience. Even in the book itself he does not claim to have come up with an original concept. His point of view has come from many sources. Emerson,Crowley,Thoreau to name a few. What he has done with The Satanic Bible is sum up what he has learned and presented it to the reader from a modern-day logical point of view. What has confused many is why it was called "The Satanic Bible" when all it really is a hedoistic,humanistic and an explanation of the need for fantasy vantage point. As well as calling it a religion with no deity. If the reader remains confused he/she did not use the only thing required to understand what he is talking about and where he is coming from. The Satanic Bible is by far the most intelligent book ever written. Dr. Anton LaVey was an obvious genius. The word "Satan" causes many people to shun this book, which is it's exact intent. Those who can not think objectively to religion are angered by the book, yet many Christians have probably bought this book for the interesting shock effect. In this book, those who are looking for horror are sorely shot down, as it contains only ways of living in an un-Christian society. Far more philosophical and realistic than the Holy Bible (a great fiction novel), The Satanic Bible shows the way to live life to the fullest extent and in happiness. Truly the fathers of our country would have deemed this book "EXCELLENT," in this day and age of Christian Fascism that would be impossible. I think people should read this book and the Holy Bible as the combination of the two creates an objective viewpoint of reality vs. spirituality-Two complete opposites. The Satanic Bible also creates an optimistic view on life as you create your own situations to fulfill your needs, not worshipping an obsolete "god" that demands for you to abstain from all of man's desires.
