Book Reviews of The Road to WellvilleBook Review: A Dickensian-style novel too good to put down Summary: 5 Stars
The amazing thing about this book is how well Mr. Boyle writes. He propels the reader from scene to scene with rarely a dull moment. Although the book does suffer from the elephantitis that afflicts most best sellers (especially surprising given the slimness of the plot) the story propels itself along like a runaway locomotive. This is a wonderful book and a highly enjoyable read.
Book Review: loved it Summary: 5 Stars
I recently got turned onto TC Boyle, and this was the second book i've read by him. I loved it, but the reviews stated it was humurous...i did not 'laugh out loud' as the reviews said i would. i thought it was me until i read a few other reviews here who said the same thing. i couldnt put it down..but i thought it was a serious book...
Book Review: Literature Summary: 5 Stars
I actually like the movie, but I was floored by the book. Darker and more sinister in tone than the movie, it is also immensly richer. I know that goes in just about every case, but it's especially true here. With this book, I've discovered a contemporary writer who writes not just fiction, but ... dare I say it? ... Literature!
Book Review: Lots of fun Summary: 5 Stars
In the masterful style that only TC Boyle can do, he sets a story in early 20th century Battle Creek, where Dr. John Harvey Kellogg invited the cornflake, among numerous other health products. A parody of what happens when health-consciousness is taken too far.
Book Review: Don't be fooled. Summary: 5 Stars
If you won't read this book because you saw the movie and, like the rest of the world, rightly hated it, give it a chance. The humor is too subtle for film. You'll be surprised.
