Book Review: Read This Before Purchasing Book!

Okay, I bought this book three days ago and have just finished reading it. There's a lot I feel I need to say to defend why this book was amazing because it's apparent people feel like bashing the book. . .Why? Apparently it's too difficult a read for them.
First off the major thing that bothered me was people saying her eyes color suddenly changes in this book like that their is specks of gold and one time it says violet. If you've ever looked up lapis lazuli then you would know that it has gold flecks in it. Therefore, her description is correct. And, yes, sometimes in certain lights eyes can look violet. What's the problem?
I found this book fairly easy to read and I'm only 19! Yes, I read a lot of books and I know the difference between good books and bad ones. And this one, to simply put it, was amazing.
First, we start off with Elena, who is back from the spirit world and is slowly getting accustomed to the real world again, which is why she can't talk at first. But, she is able to communicate with Stefan through each others minds. Stefan ends up leaving, which is what this whole book is based on. The first steps of finding out how to get to where he is and stopping Shinochi and Misao. Personally, I love the two villians in the story, they are original and very creepy, as to be expected of L.J.Smith's work.
Now, this is what I feel needs explanation from what the one star reviews have said:
First: Someone said Damon is shallow and only cares that Bonnie is an A cup.
Where in the world did this person pull this out of? First off, Damon is possessed in this book by the very beginning and he doesn't come across as shallow at all. Evil, of course. But, I guess people can't differentiate the two. Now, about the whole A Cup thing. He was stripping Bonnie to save her life! She was dying and he had to put her in a bath to let the venom seep out of her body and yes there was a little comment in his moment about how he couldn't help, but notice she was only an A cup. is it that big a deal people?
Second: This book only consists of Damon weeping at Elena's feet and beginning for forgiveness.
Another strong statement with nothing to back it up. Damon is possessed and when Elena uses her powers to heal him and take the malach Damon becomes upset and begs for forgiveness. Of course he would beg for forgiveness he made Matt and her do horrible things in the woods in front of him for his amusement. So, yes, he does beg for forgiveness because he loves Elena and hated himself for actually psychically hurting her.
Third: The kitsune twins are only around to say their is a villian and cause a little chaos.
Again, did some of you actually read the book? The ENTIRE time Misao is possessing poor little girls with malachs making them do ungodly things, while Shinichi focuses on Damon and Elena, the only possible threats in town. Malachs are what's infecting the residents of Fell's church under Misao's orders to destroy the town. And, someone said after comment that there was trees and insects that "that's all i'm going to say about those."
Wow. You are providing an excellent review! People just state the weird occurrances in the book as if they are random, but it all builds up the story for an explosive cliff hanger in their fight to find Stefan. Honestly, if you give this story a chance it's a great story.
Yes, their is magic key, which is to be expected of magical japenese kitsunes! It's only towards the end and definitely takes you for an interesting ride when Elena is trying to run for her life from Damon. That chapter was so creative it had me on the edge of my seat! I found myself saying run faster Elena!
Fourth: The statements that Elena is suddenly a Mary Sue.
Totally false! She has undergone a lot of character developement. She was brought back from the dead so yes, of course, at first some of her spirit being still resides in her human body and it takes about a hundred pages for her to settling into her old self.
While Elena's on the back burner recovering we get to watch Damon slowly lose control of his body and fight with this new feelings for Bonnie.
She's not perfect and once she settles back into her human body and talks again the author proves this to us by using swears and such to show the old wildfire Elena, while at other times she used to run into things headfirst without asking questions she is now more patient like a real human being would be.
Okay, so the wings of redemption, purification, etc. are a weird names. It's hard coming up with names for angel-like abilities! And, I can't explain too much without ruining the book, but by the ending it's evident that Elena is no perfect, Mary Sue, character.
Read it and form your own opinion! This book is worth the ride it takes you on, I assure you! And, personally, I can't wait to read the next installment Shadow of Souls because that ending. . .Let's just say I was ready to scream at a possible twist she threw in there!
