Book Reviews of the The Queen's Fool: A Novel (Boleyn)Customer Review: Disappointing Summary: 1 Stars
I was eager for this book having absolutely loved The Other Boleyn Girl. Sadly, I quit this book after 300 pages - the only Tudor-era book I have ever not finished, and I've read several dozen. No character except Queen Mary and Daniel was sympathetic. The heroine was unlikeable, and as the book dragged on I found myself less willing to read in order to complete a historical tale I already knew since I didn't want to journey with the teller. The Sight aspect of the novel was fresh, and the author was true to enough historical details to give a nod to Tudorphiles, such as the etching on the window, ascribed to Elizabeth. However, no matter how many clever devices, if you don't like the heroine, it's tough to chew and swallow.
