Book Reviews of The Prince of Tides: A NovelBook Review: Top Five Best Books I've Ever Read Summary: 5 Stars
There is no adjective that can accurately describe the masterpiece that is The Prince of Tides. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me tremble and it made me reflect. It brings the reader into rural, racist South Carolina and makes them a native. And the characters! I loved every character in this book and I was honestly upset when I finished the book and the characters were taken from my life forever. Pat Conroy's cynical, dark outlook on life was a relief from the monotone of other books happy ever after's. Move this book to the top of your "to-read" list immediately, you will not regret it.
Book Review: You will never forget the Prince of Tides Summary: 5 Stars
Like the greatest of novels...this one sticks to you forever. To those that give it four stars I say "quit being so self-important as to feel like you need to find fault". I would ask them what greater novel in the last 75 years has been written. Better yet...write one yourself.
I read a lot and have rarely found a work that grabbed me and never let go. I'm writing this review 13 years after I read it for the first time.
Book Review: Amazing book Summary: 5 Stars
I am a visual reader who is swept away by the scenes taking place in my own head as I read. So it takes something really extraordinary to make me aware of the way language flows on the page. Conroy is that kind of extraordinary. This is his best novel ... and maybe the best novel written in the decade of the 80s.
Book Review: Didn't childhood mess us all up? Summary: 5 Stars
So beautiful. I just watched the movie for the first time, so I had to go and read the book and thank God I did. The prose and story are remarkable and made this a wonderful read without sacraficing depth. I recommend this for anyone who has been in a family and is still trying to understand the dynamics.
Book Review: Amazing Storyteller Summary: 5 Stars
I could not put this book down. Pat Conroy is an amazing storyteller...and certainly brings his characters to life. I am currently reading his book Beach Music and I am enthralled again. Would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a wonderful reading experience.
