Book Review: Excellent Read!!!!

This book has changed my views of myself forever. Finally, I have come across reference material that brings to light the truth about how adoptees feel. As an adoptee myself, I am fully aware of society's preconceived notions that adoptees are so fortunate and should be so grateful to have been adopted. Unfortunately, that is the exact opposite of the way we truly feel inside, and so remains our travesty. We have not been able to mourn our loss, we have not been able to grieve. With this wonderful eye-opener, we may each begin our healing process and moreover our understanding of our own feelings. Hopefully society will become more comprehending of the truths that lie beyond the word "adoption" and what that means to all members of the triad. Because, quite simply, one cannot possibly know the feelings of adoptees unless they have been adopted themselves, as the author has stated.
I am baffled by the negative reviews I have read herein. I suppose I expect everyone to be of the same education, and of the same personal growth in the area of understanding human nature, as I am. Apparently, we are not all on the same level and there are individuals who deny truths, that to the majority, are perfectly evident and so helpful.
Reviews are a wonderful tool to prospective buyers; however, one has to question the integrity of reviews written by those who seem to have taken the information too personally and react with such animosity toward the author and her findings. A more tactful and astute individual might be less denigrating to the author and more helpful to the prospective buyers.
I found numerous references within the author's writings from other authors on the subject. Considering there is such a limited amount of information to date on the adoptee's perspective of adoption, Verrier did an excellent job, and she should be commended. This is a daring and edgy concept for much of today's society to face, but as I see it, all movements are brought about in this fashion.
My highest recommendation goes to this book to any adoptee whose path I might cross in the future, and kudos to an adoptive mother who took the love, time, energy and research to understand her relationship with her adopted child and to shed the light she found with the world. Thank you!!
