Book Reviews of The PowerScore LSAT Logic Games BibleBook Review: Fantastic! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a BIG fan of power score products. I utilized this series for GMAT and now for LSAT and each time I saw results. I am fortunate to have a small budget to purchase these basic prep books and followed a stringent 3 month self study plan (I didn't have 1500 to spend on a professional prep program) and I did well on the test. It takes focus , discipline and great prep books, such as POWER SCORE! Logic Games can be scary...the first time I did a pre test I almost cried when I tried to do a LG but after getting through this book LGs became somewhat fun and toward the end of my studying they were a relief from all that READING for the rest of the LSAT sections. This book is a life saver...for anyone who seems LG as a struggle...I have worked through all the other prep books out there and hands down this is the ONLY book worth its weight for LG. I also recommend buying the workbook (white cover). Work your way through the bible do a few lsac preptests then mid-way through your plan work through the workbook as a refresher.
Book Review: unexpected results Summary: 5 Stars
I don't know what I was expecting when I bought this book (Powerscore books are a considerable investment), but if you want to master the Logic Games, BUY IT! I can literally score perfectly on the whole Games section at 8 minutes a question (typical partitioning is 8 min 45 seconds). Before, I could only do from 14-18 questions in the whole section. Question types are broken down with not-too-easy and relevant sample problems.
I'm also currently taking a Kaplan LSAT course, and I find that the methods used are a bit basic and not all that helpful when it comes to the more difficult games. But, the course isn't over, and it's good that I get to review a bit and see the structure of the games from the perspective of those who deconstruct it for a living.
My tips: TIME YOURSELF. Devote actual time to understanding the points the author makes so that you can apply it throughout the book and onto the actual LSAT! Good luck!
... now to concentrate on the other sections...
Book Review: a must-have Summary: 5 Stars
As someone who did not take a class but relied on prep books to study for the LSAT, I highly recommend this book. A friend recommended it to me as being a must-have, and I completely second that. The logic games is perhaps the most intimidating section of the LSAT, and I was completely clueless as to how to approach this section. This book breaks down all the different types of games that might appear on your LSAT by section, offering an explanation and example of the type of game and tons of drills (from preliminary to practice questions). Practice, practice, practice! I found that this book completely worked for me, and I ended up actually finding the logic games kinda fun after I was through! Explanations are thorough and easy to understand, and all the drill sets and questions from previous LSATS ensure that you get all the practice you need. If you're struggling with logic games, this book is a must to have in your arsenal of prep work.
Book Review: Great Book. Summary: 5 Stars
This book is great. I bought it and the examcrackers series of books. I believe that for most people this book and some of the "Official Test Preps" practice tests are all you will need or want. I'm not saying examcrackers is bad (cause it is a good set), its just this book gave me much more help than the others.
The book gives you great practice for the games section. The symbols it teaches you are more efficient than other books. The book gives walk through for the sections after you have did the practices. The walkthrough are very thorough. The walkthrough actually point out bits of information and observations that can really help improve your score. Some of the advice the book gives will speed up your initial "breakthrough" moment of the scenario/setup.
With official practice tests, this book, and some time to DO BOTH your score will increase.
Book Review: GREAT Summary: 5 Stars
I purchasead this book because other bloggers said it was better than the Kaplan set...and I have to agree...I originally purchased the Kaplan book and used it a little...this book really IS better and DEFINITLY worth the money. It Introduces all the ideas at a slow pace and gradually scaffold on top of each old idea to introduce the "new" one. With each step, it does not assume you know anything and breaks it down in great detail. then it starts you off slow with a drill to test your ability to SET UP the question, without the pressure of having to deal with the questions just yet...they let you tackle one thing at a time. Then they move onto a full example that actually comes from an actual LSAT.
Overall, I really feel as though this is a GREAT book, and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to prepare themselves for the LSAT.
