Book Reviews of The Phoenix of the Opera

Book Review: Nice Alternative
Summary: 4 Stars

"The Phoenix of the Opera" is a refreshing take on what happens next. Most POTO sequels deal with Erik and Christine. Although Christine is an important character in this book, the 1st of a 4 book series, it is Meg who becomes Erik's love interest and leading lady. I found this to be a well written book which kept my interest until the end. Those who are expecting a follow-up to the original by Leroux may be disappointed, since this series follows more closely the characterizations from the movie. Luckily for me, I purchased all 4 books in the series at the same time, so I won't have to wait for the next book to be published; I can begin it immediately. It will be interesting to see in which direction this series goes. It was very enjoyable light reading. I would definitely recommend it to fans of POTO.

Book Review: One Bibliophile's View
Summary: 4 Stars

I am a self professed book lover as well as an amateur writer, so I kind of know my stuff when it comes to books. I have been borderline obsessed with all things Phantom for nearly half my life now and I had great expectations for this book. All in all it was not that bad though it did have a moment or two where I had to put it to the side and read something else, otherwise I couldn't put it down. Story wise it was just as good as any other fan fiction I have read and I was instantly drawn into the story thanks in the most part to the characters. I confess that I did read ahead more than once to see how Erik was doing and I rarely do that. Truthfully this book is just another fan fiction, though rather well written, falls short of Gaston Leroux's telling.

Book Review: LOOKING FORWARD TO BOOK 2
Summary: 4 Stars

When i saw the summary of this book i thought this version of sequel is just what i have been looking for and hope it lived up to my expectation and true indeed i thoroughly enjoyed the book. This book was able to hold my attention non-stop such that i finished the book in a day.

However, the only thing i didn't like about it is that its based on the 2004 movie which i felt a little pale in comparison to the actual musical as there are a lot of parts which i throughly enjoyed which was changed or removed in it.But nonetheless i await to uncover what richness lies in the following books after this i hope they will be as good as the first book if not better.

Book Review: Really enjoyed this book.
Summary: 4 Stars

My name is Jaxine Daniels and I'm a Phantomophile. :) I really enjoyed this book. I just ordered the second in the series. Sadie's style is different and it took a bit to get used to it. But I wasn't dissuaded. And I felt that the story was worth it. Good job, Ms. Montgomery. I look forward to getting the next one.

Book Review: PHOENIX OF THE OPERA - Starving for more!
Summary: 4 Stars

I enjoyed The Phoenix of the Opera very much and can't wait to see what happens next. I too longed for Meg Giry to rescue the Phantom at the end of the movie, and now you've taken us on the beginning, of this wonderful new journey, with these unforgettable characters. Thank you so much! Four more books, oh boy! can't wait.
