Book Reviews of The Phoenix of the OperaBook Review: The Phantom Lives! Summary: 5 Stars
What an amazing book The Phoenix of the Opera is! I've read quite a few 'fanfics' as well as the original and I couldn't put Phoenix down. The stream of consciousness thoughts of the characters are similar to the way we think in our innermost soul. The book picks up perfectly where the movie lets off. I didn't think I would like an Erik/Meg pairing, but it works so well! All of the beloved characters are here...Raoul and Christine an integral part of the adventure. There are parts where I just dissolved into tears. There are so many twists and turns, there is never a dull moment. Of course, I pictured all the characters just the way they were in the movie. We are allowed more than a glimpse into the characters anguish and angst which is sometimes heartbreaking. I'm starting now on Out of the Darkness...the continuation of the Erik/Christine journey. Brava, Sadie...you have a winner! I have recommended it to so many of my friends and I know they won't be disappointed.
Book Review: This book made an Erik and Christine fan cheer for Erik and Meg Summary: 5 Stars
While I am an Erik and Christine fan and will probably be one until the day I die, this book actually makes me like that couple Erik and Meg. The first book in this series that is based on the 2004 movie poses the question what would have happend if Meg had followed Erik through the mirror at the end of the movie. I also like that it takes a while for Erik to fall in love with Meg instead of haveing him instantly forget about the passion that he had for Chirstine. I feel that the author stayed true to the characters from the movie like Erik, Christine, Meg, Raoul, and Madame Giry. I also like that Raoul was portrayed in a posotive light, the poor doesn't get a break from some fans, and I really like him because he is a gentleman who was willing to marry a woman that was way under his social standing. This book ends on a really good cliffhanger and once you read this book, you will want to read the other books in the series.
Book Review: I LOVE this book!!! Summary: 5 Stars
What a beautifully written, heart-felt book this is!!! From the very first page, with Madame Giry's memories of a young Erik, I was absolutely hooked! This tale is quite different than the usual tale of Erik and Christine and finally gives Erik a chance at happiness and redemption from his past. He finally learns the power of letting go of old demons and learns to move past them to find true happiness. I loved the stream of consciousness thoughts from different characters and felt that it helped me get into the minds of the characters from which they came. I found my heart racing at times and breaking at others and I actually felt for Raoul at times- and that's saying something, because I'm not a Raoul fanLOL. This is such a beautifully written book, I honestly didn't want it to end and now I get to start into the second in the series- I can hardly wait:-)!!! A+++++
Book Review: The Phoenix of the Opera A real eye opener of a story Summary: 5 Stars
You can settle in for an exciting tale that picks up exactly where the stage and movie version of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA ends and takes you on the most heart twisting and nerve tingling narrative of Erik, and all the people that came into his life before and after the original story.
Sadie Montgomery has woven a believable, moving story that makes these characters live and breathe on the printed page and you will want it to go on and on as you get more involved in the moods, dangers, joys and romance that she puts before you. Erik becomes alive, you can feel, sense and know his pain, longing, joys and triumphs as he faces life away from the security and solitude of the now ruined Opera House. You will come away from reading this book satisfied, yet eagerly awaiting Sadies next book. A wonderful book to cherish.../Scottish Rose
Book Review: The Opera Continues Summary: 5 Stars
After watching "The Phantom of The Opera" (2004) I always imagined the story would continue when Meg followed the Phantom through the broken mirror. I was so excited to see that someone else had the same thought and actually wrote a book about it! "The Phoenix of the Opera" is a wonderful book about the continued story of Erik(the phantom)Meg, Christine, and Raoul. It was so captivating I read it almost in one sitting. It is a beautiful tragic tale that could stand on its own but also leaves room for continuation. I hope Ms. Montgomery is able to continue the story. I can't wait to find out what else happens. I highly recomend this book to any Phantom fan as well as any one else who loves a good story of passion, obsession and hope!
