Book Reviews of The Oxford Book of Modern Science WritingBook Review: Scientific Spirituality Summary: 5 Stars
This excellent compendium nicely gives the lie to all sorts of literary, religious, and pseudoscientific philistines who fancy themselves to be on some sort of higher spiritual plane than offered by a naturalistic worldview. All of these samplings are good, and many are inspirational. Please just enjoy these readings. My main quibble would be Dawkins's self-effacement in not including any of his own writings, perhaps from *Unweaving the Rainbow.* And maybe a Richard Feynman selection, or Michael Faraday's description of a burning candle. There is no blame in this, because scientific literature offers so many gems that it would be impossible to include them all in a book of reasonable length. May we hope for a second volume?
Book Review: It will intrigue you. no doubt. Summary: 5 Stars
This book is proof that Richard Dawkins really does cherish his role as "Professor for public understanding of science". He really does want the world to learn and not only from his mouth.
The book itself is a compilation of OTHER science writers about THEIR work.
Personally, my interests lie in biology, but this book has opened my eyes to the world of astronomy, physics and.. dare I say.. Mathematics?
Consider this book as a greatest hits CD of all the best musicians of this century, its worth it to read and the actual quality of the book itself is awesome. Very thick, quality pages.
This book makes me want to learn more, so In my eyes, it is an inspiration.
Book Review: A wonderful collection of essays on science Summary: 5 Stars
Richard Dawkins has become something of an institution with his interest in biology, atheism, evolution, creationism, and religion. Its a great joy to review one of his books without having to worry about offending the proponents of creationism and intelligent design.
Dawkins has put together a wonderful collection of short essays on various aspects of science by a wide range of people known primarily as practicing scientists rather than writers on science.
This collection requires a bit of scientific knowledge. Like most collections, you may not enjoy all the essays. But it is a great joy to read an essay or two, and save the rest for later.

Book Review: Modern Science Writing Summary: 5 Stars
If you like science, you should really enjoy this new book by Richard Dawkins. I know that I savored it! Being retired, I start the day looking out over Lake Isabella and surrounding Sierras from my eagle's perch view. With a cup of coffee, in my comfortable recliner, and with a good book, I experience the pleasure that I worked for those many years. This book was one of the better ones. Richard Dawkins showed a new side of himself. He shared his admirations and delights as he introduced his favorite science writers. I feel the link to his delights.

Book Review: Worth way more than twenty-five bucks Summary: 5 Stars
Folks often wonder where the scientists draw the energy to spend all those hours studying descriptive models and terminology about the natural world. The answer is in this book!
These essays break down notions of busy work behind science and let you get a flavor for the spirit and curiosity behind all of it. Unadulterated curiosity is key to learning science, so its a great start for undergraduates struggling to understand their field of science.
