Book Reviews of The Original Rider Waite Tarot PackBook Review: my favorite Summary: 5 Stars
If you are a new ager or Wiccan that likes flash and form, this may not be for you. If however you prefer the old ways, deep Western mysticism, and nostalgia, then this pack should be a delight to use. It is not "pretty" and bright like many, but I find it to have very deep "feeling" and the cards are more intuitive for me. Especially if you are into Golden Dawn or Western mystery systems, this is the pack to understand, as much of the symbolism is in there. But again, if you prefer something bright and colorful, for looks rather than use, then this is not for you.
Book Review: A sucker for historical accuracy. Summary: 5 Stars
By today's standards the imagery and color of the cards are of a "lesser" quality, but these cards aren't supposed to measure up to today's standards. They are as close to an exact copy of a hundred year old deck as we could hope to have readily available. As a history buff I love being able to have in my hands the same images used a century ago with no modification. It is the same thing as a scan of an original comic book versus a computer representation of the art work in the same book. The closer to the original the better it can be understood and appreciated.
Book Review: This Is A Very Positive Review Of The Rider/Waite Tarot Deck Summary: 5 Stars
I have used the Rider/Waite Tarot Deck for 25 years. I use it daily for my readings. I have seen fancier decks, with highly artistic depictions, but this deck's representations really help readers concentrate on the true meaning of each card. The booklet that comes with the deck is meant as a very basic guide. Your intuition will kick in, with practice, to help you interpret the layout into a very clear reading. I recommend this deck wholeheartedly, and, I use it nearly 30 times a day! This is a terrific deck to learn with, and to continue with.
Book Review: THE ULTIMATE Summary: 5 Stars
How can I give this more than 5 ?????Great - my first and best deck. Don't throw away tradition without replacing it with something better. And don't base your deck on it and then say it's obsolete, archaic or things like that. WHEN REVIEWING: review the item based on the item and all it's worth (Objectively) and not the other items outside it (Subjectively). The Rider-Waite-Smith deck is the best for the beginner, intermediate, advanced, expert, master, adept and whatever or whichever term you use. It's your deck. But that's my opinion.
Book Review: Really it's a modernist-classical deck Summary: 5 Stars
This remains my favorite deck. There are more eye-catching & design orientated decks out there but they tend to be cold and attached to something other than Tarot. For doing actual readings, Rider-Waite has the great advantage of having lots of symbolism. More symbolism means more information and more opportunities for the intellect to cruise down the road of intuition. The best and most complete readings I've done have come from this deck.
