Book Reviews of The Oil-Protein Diet CookbookBook Review: Recipes for variety and relief in a daunting diet Summary: 5 Stars
If you are determined to follow this "flax-oil and cottage-cheese (or quark-cheese)" diet, say you found out about it somewhere else, e.g., [...], you'll welcome Dr. Budwig's own little book of over 500 recipes. I took heart when I saw that I could still have plenty of interesting deserts, even "ice creams" made with the recipe(s) in the book. But there are lots of other dishes and courses to keep life interesting. Although cooking and sautéing with butter, lard, margarine and almost any vegetable oil is a "no-no" - because the heat breaks them down into toxic components, it is still possible to cook, carefully, with pure cocoanut oil - a solid at room temperature. If you are a creative cook, after mastering preparing the basic ingredients and principles, you should have no trouble coming up with your own delicious recipes. The book mentions that fresh fish (non-farmed) and game (free-run poultry?) are permissible sources of protein. I cook these by baking or poaching rather than pan-frying.
Book Review: Great Book Summary: 5 Stars
I am a health nut and highly recommend Dr Budwig's book on Arthritis, Cancer, etc before obtaining this cookbook. This cookbook is wonderful and I have been following the cottage cheese and flaxseed oil with many other vegetables and fruits. I cut up all my vegetables and keep in a
vacuum seal container ahead of time. This enables me to throw meals, lunches together in no time at all. I am looking forward to trying out her ice cream recipe with the cottage cheese.
I truly believe that the Flax Seed oil is a Fountain of Youth. I am 57 years old and have been using for just a month. My crow's feet between my brows is almost invisible as well as around the corners of my mouth.
I highly recommend the cookbook for anyone wanting to change their diet.
Book Review: The Budwig protocol and liver cancer Summary: 5 Stars
As others here have commented, the Budwig protocol centers around what is truly a healthy diet and is also an effective way to fight cancer; at least, it has turned out to be so in the case of a close family member of mine.
If you want to try this protocol, you will find all the information you need in Budwig's own books, such as this one, and at the Yagoo group flaxseedoil2 (That's "oil 2," not "oi 1 2".), which explains and promotes the original protocol free of charge.
Dr. Budwig, by the way, made a study of the metabolism of oils and fats, and you may be surprised to find which ones are very unhealthy and how they change for the worse (and become cancer promoters) when heated (an excellent argument for avoiding fried "fast foods").
Book Review: The Oil Protein Diet Cookbook, by Johanna Dr. Budwig Summary: 5 Stars
This book is the companion to her first book. While the first book is really a compilation of her various lectures to peers over a long span of years, this book actually explains in more detail how her diet works and also suggests diets that are nutritious to the point of being adequate for athletes in training. If I had to choose "one" this would be IT. As a cancer victim myself you can read my review of the other book about how well her diet works. Buying this book and following her diet will be the best investment in your own health you will ever make. Buy and read both her books, but especially this one.
Book Review: Got Health ? Summary: 5 Stars
It's a giant secret here but everyone is dying from lack of Omega 3's. We're talking cancer, heart disease,
plus all those maladies that just make your life barely livable such as painful arthritis. The author of this
book was nominated for the Nobel Prize no less than seven times. It was never awarded to her thanks to
drug companies and research labs. Why fix something when you can keep it broken and profit ?!! This book
is a goldmine for those of us who want to keep feeling good instead of slowly deteriorating into useless beings
who cannot care for themselves or anything else...
