There's no more guessing with the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary. If it's in there, you are good to go. No more bickering resulting in combat Scrabble; no more second-guessing whether the word 'fits' the parameters of the rules - if the word you laid down in tiles is in black and white between the covers of this book, you have the points. Period. And you may be surprised at what is between the covers...it makes for great reading on the sly...

Book Review: Great Improvement in OSPD

For about 50 years, I have been a veteran Scrabble Player and have participated in many tournaments, as well as playing on line, internationally.
The updated edition of OSPD is excellent, because they separated special sections with prefixes, making it much easier to find your way around.
The only complaint I have is that the delivery charges were much higher than the book, forcing me to rely more on local or second-hand books.

I bought this Scrabble Dictionary paperback from Amazon. If you enjoy playing Scrabble like me and you have a hillbilly father-in-law like me that makes up words then this book is a must. We play that any word can be challenged and it must be in the book. After I disqualify all my father-in-laws crazy words I like throwing my own words down like "za" that he challenges and then curses when he finds it in the book. Thumbs up.

If you play scrabble, either the old fashioned way (on a board) or on the computer, then you need one of these handy little dictionaries to look up words you thought were words but weren't really sure. You'll also find words you never even dreamed were words, and each has a brief definition. If you ever wanted to have a great official dictionary for scrabble, this is the one to go for.A Haven of official words for scrabbeling! It gives a brief description of the meaning of the word,which is very valuable.Some scrabble dictionaries only spell the word and don't give an explanation of it,which is totally boring! Yes, I definitely recommend this book highly!!
