Book Review: Best book out there for the New SAT!

I am very happy with my purchase of The Official SAT Study Guide. This is the only book out there that has tests created by the test maker. The detailed descriptions of each section, including the New Essay section, are a plus. It is great that they have essay questions with sample essays. The 'Keep in Mind' approaches give me valuable insight on the new SAT. Since I own the book; I am able to go to collegeboard.com and receive free online score reports and sample essays for all of the practice tests. I am also a subscriber to the Official SAT Online Course and I am able receive answer explanations for the all of the questions in the practice tests. The online course also has auto essay scoring for all of the essay questions in the book-that means I can go in and type my essay and receive feedback instantly. I also love the interactive lessons. I think that is my favorite part!
I think the study guide and the online course make a great pair in studying for the new SAT. It has already given me the confidence that I will be ready for the new SAT!
Book Review: Bought this for the mystery tutor site, glad I did.

I bought this book for my kid because it was recommended on mysterytutor.com, and I have to say I'm glad I did. The questions are different from what he was working on before, which was one of the Barron's books, just like the guy on the mystery tutor site said they would be. It just makes sense to use real questions to get ready for the test, especially when it's an important one.
Some other reviewers have written about how the book doesn't provide solutions, and I agree that that's a problem, but if you go to the mystery tutor's forums you can get all of those solutions for free, so that way you can still use this book of real questions and not have to go with some other company's fake questions, but still have explanations.
The book is full of real practice questions just like it says it is, and it's the only book of practice questions you should be using! Get it and don't think twice.

I am an SAT Tutor and have routinely seen students of mine improve their SAT scores between 250 and 300 points and beyond. The only book I use is this one because it's the only book on the market that has questions made by the test maker. This not only insures that students know and improve in content skill but, just as important, they become very aware of patterns. In other words, by reviewing hundreds of questions, students naturally become familiar with the common traps, errors and nuances of the test. This builds confidence. Further proof? I have bought countless SAT prep books already over the past few years and with this new SAT that college admissions will be looking at for the first time for high school graduates of 2006, I have built much confidence for this test. I do recommend Kaplan, but there are a few errors in their books. With this book, you are guaranteed "real" questions that will show up on the test. Of course, they will be in a different format, but after taking the June 4, 2005 test, I can safely say that this book predicted the actual one very well. One warning on the essays though. I've heard that they actually grade slightly harder than the samples they give online. Otherwise, great test prep book. (Some of the questions have been recycled from past SAT college board books, such as the 10 Real SATs book, but this is still definitely worth getting!)Book Review: Great prep for the new SAT

I never really thought about it before studying for the SAT, but if ur going to study for a test, shouldn't you use real test material? I found the tests in the book a little uneven...some of my scores on practice tests were a lot higher then on other practice tests, but when I took the test in March, I felt totally prepared. And I got my scores back this week and went up almost 300 points from my PSAT.
I didn't really read the stuff at the beginning of the book, only the practice tests. I used Maximum SAT alongside this book, and that really helped me figure out what I was doing wrong and how to get answers more quickly. Mostly, I put a lot of time into practicing and reviewing the tests once I took them, and it really paid off. This is the book to have.
