Book Reviews of The Obama DiariesBook Review: The Son of Deep Throat and The Watergate Complex Summary: 5 Stars
The first question that most readers will have when they start reading this excellent book is, "How Long Will Obama Wait to Sic The Justice Department on Laura Ingraham?" It's kind of amazing it hasn't already happened since the book has been out for a few days. Or maybe the White House has actually learned from its smear campaigns against Fox News, The Tea Parties, Rush and other conservative Talk Radio Types? Those attacks all backfired on the White House big time. Or maybe the White House expects a trap and isn't going to jump into a fray that will turn the entire world's attention on Ingrahm and her "Obama Diaries?" They may feel it's best just to ignore this particularly timely and devastating satire about the White House?
Maybe the Obamas and Members of Congress have been too busy to check the book's excellent Index so that they can be certain their names are spelled correctly without having to read the rest of the bill, oops, parody?
The 377-page book itself is composed of a short Introduction, "Dramatis Personse" and ten chapters plus acknowledgements and a very detailed Index. The individual chapters are topics with several diary entries and discussion in each one. Those topics include "Razzle-Dazzling Us to Death," "Will the Real Messiah Please Stand Up,"
"The Audacity of Narcissism" and "Demonizing the Enemy." That particular chapter starts out with one of Saul Alinsky's rules for radicals and contains numerous quotes from Alinsky's Manual for Causing Social Disorder and Bringing Down the Government including this one: "Rules for Radicals is written for the Have-Nots on how to take it away...my aim here is to suggest how to organize for power: how to get it and how to use it." Ingraham's point is that the Obama follows Alinsky's advice to the letter. Obama's agenda is like the Ghost of Alinsky returning to wreak havoc on America. In both the President's and the First Lady's diary, Alinsky is often referred to as "Papa Alinsky."
About half the book is composed of copies of the supposed secret diary entries of the Obamas as well as many members of their administration. These were from the material provided by the "deep voiced" mysterious stranger who left the large manila envelope containing the material on the hood of Laura Ingraham's SUV in the underground parking garage of the Watergate Complex in Washington, DC. The motives and identity of this well-connected leak is unknown. "The words `Property of the American People' were scrawled in black Magic Marker on the front. As I cautiously lifted the package, a deep baritone voice called out from the nearby stairwell. `Just read it,' he said. `You'll know what to do.'"
"The mystery man stood silent for a few seconds and then vanished faster than Obama's high approval ratings."
Eventually Laura decided the found material needed to be shared with the American Public. The book includes dozens and dozens of alleged pages from the various Obama Team's private diaries. Intersperced with the diay entries are Ingraham's thoughts on the truthfulness of the mysterious material dropped off by the modern-day "Son of Deep Throat." Much of the material in the diaries is backed up by actual quotes from the diary's authors. Many of the events described by the diaries have come true and any thinking person can see and understand them and their effects on America.
The diary entries are hilarious, but kind of depressing because they seem like they could actually be from the private diaries of the individuals to whom they are attributed. Most of them seem to be written on official government stationary. One of the entries for October 9, 2009 is from Hillary Clinton regarding how upset Bill was with Obama winning a Nobel Peace Prize. The stationary she used for her entry has the following label at the top of the page: "The Diary of President Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Washington D.C." The word "President" has been scratched out, but was still plainly visible as evidence of hopes dashed.
In the entry from "The Diary of President Barak Obama from The White House" on the same date Obama is swimming in self-satisfaction at having won a Nobel Peace Prize. Only three other Presidents have won and that included Woodrow Wilson, Theodore Roosevelt and "Jimmy Carter's Award for Building Houses."
In that diary entry Obama is figuring out how to insult Clinton using the prize. "If those Norwegians only knew how badly Bill and Hillary wanted that award. Just to rub it in, I should host a dinner for Carter and Gore, and then tell Clinton, `I'm sorry, Bill, only Nobel Peace Prize winners allowed.'"
The March 8, 2010 entry from"The Diary of White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emauel, The West Wing" is only one of several wonderfully funny entries for him. He relates how he used that naked shower techinique to change votes by "imtimidating the hell out of these slobs...when I'm about three yards awasy from them, I'd rip the towel and whammo. The Member met my member. Most of them were struck speechless...I even got Sheila Jackson Lee to vote against a bill she had sponsored."
This book is riot to read, but it has its important messages buried in humor. That's another Alinsky rule...make people laugh at and ridicule your target.
"This book was designed to open your eyes to the true agenda and motives of Team Obama. For those of you who haven't gotten the joke yet, these diaries were my way of pulling back the curtain on Barack Obama's Theater of the Politically absurd. My musings--raw and uncensored--are informed by actual events and, on many occasions, by the main character's own words."
"What you do with the insights in this true and fictional account of the historic presidency of Barack Obama is up to you." As was also emphasized in the recent 2010: Take Back America mid-term campaign battle plan by Dick Morris and his wife Eileen McGann, Laura says that this election requires people to get involved in the campaign any way they can including by using their email to spread the word and provide accurate information to all the members of their personal email networks. Have the facts ready to instantly refute the coming tidal wave of mud slinging, slander and lies.
"We have a lot of work ahead of us. This is `freedom's last stand.'"

Summary of The Obama Diaries(WASHINGTON, D.C.) On May 20, 2010, Laura Ingraham received a package from an anonymous source that will change the history of the United States and the legacy of President Barack Obama. While retrieving her automobile from the underground garage at the Watergate complex (where she had just enjoyed her weekly pedicure), Ingraham discovered a manila envelope on the hood of her car. When she picked it up, a deep baritone voice called out from a nearby stairwell: "Just read it. You?ll know what to do." The shadowy figure then disappeared into the darkness without another word. The envelope contained copies of what appeared to be diary entries written by President Barack Obama, his family, and high-ranking administration officials. Because the "diaries" are so revealing, Ingraham felt compelled to release them to the American public and the citizens of the world. Major media outlets love to describe the president as "no drama Obama," but The Obama Diaries tells a different tale. Through these "diary entries," readers will see past the carefully constructed Obama faÇade to the administration?s true plans to "remake America." In The Obama Diaries, Ingraham hilariously skewers the president and his minions. She takes aim at: ?the cynical "razzle-dazzle" marketing of Obama?s radical agenda ?the use of the Obama "brand" and family to obscure Obama?s true aims ?Michelle Obama?s gardening and anti-obesity initiative; and much more. Informative and hugely entertaining, The Obama Diaries will inspire both laughter and critical thinking about the future of the nation and the man currently at the helm. Excerpts from Laura Ingraham?s The Obama Diaries Obama on Sarah Palin: "Hell, doesn?t Palin have anything better to do than criticize me? Shouldn?t she be back home shooting some endangered wolf species from a helicopter?" (April 9, 2010) Michelle on being First Lady: "I?ll be damned if all this fabulosity is going to go to waste reading Dr. Seuss to snot-nosed kids all day." (January 23, 2009) Vice President Joe Biden on Michelle Obama: "She?s kind of like a black Hillary Clinton. I mean that in a good way." (May 5, 2009) Obama on his visit to the Vatican: "If I can ingratiate myself with a few more of these red-hats, the pope thing might not be a bad follow-up to the presidency." (July 10, 2009)
