Book Review: Best available timeline of the NYT bestseller list I've seen

Had to borrow this little-known & hard-to-find book in a paperback edition via an interloan from my local library...Starting from the inception of the New York Times bestseller list in 1942, this 8x11-size survey time-travels through the first 50 years of the list outlining most of the volumes which made it to the #1 position, both fiction and non-fiction. Interesting and often humorous capsule descriptions, and list-performance area-graphs are provided with each. The framework proceeds chronologically year-by-year, and is interspersed with fascinating articles and trivia about authors, background, and the books themselves. An interesting example is an article by Andy Rooney describing his experiences on the list with his best-selling books of the early 80's.
For anyone who is fascinated by best-seller lists and in books in general, this is a must if you can locate it. Also, if anyone knows of any other similar best-seller-list histories or surveys, I'd appreciate knowing, thanx.
