Book Reviews of The New BabyBook Review: Beautiful book, but . . . Summary: 4 Stars
My grandson enjoys I'm a Big Brother more than he does this book and My New Baby.
I like the artwork in this book more than what's in the others, but I guess graphical images aren't everything.
Who knows . . . maybe "The New Baby" isn't my grandson's favorite because he thinks his Mom is better looking than the one in this book?
Book Review: Good for toddlers under age 2 Summary: 4 Stars
My son is 18 months old, and we're expecting a baby girl in another 2 months. My son loves this book and often asks me to read it. He enjoys pointing to the Mama, the Daddy, the little boy and the baby sister (and the mouse!) on each page, which I think is helping him understand that a family can include a little boy and a baby sister.
My only gripe is that the baby is shown eating from a bottle, whereas I plan to breastfeed. Sadly, this seems to be a near-universal problem with children's books about new siblings.
Book Review: Really Cute! Summary: 4 Stars
My 2 1/2 year old son really enjoys this book. I think it has helped him understand what it will be like to have a baby in the house. I thought it was really cute. The only thing I thought the book didn't really address was the fact that the older child will be getting less attention after baby comes. It would have been nice to have a page showing the older child playing on his own while Mommy changes baby's diaper or feeds baby. Other than that, a really cute book!
Book Review: New Sibling Baby -Not so exciting, but not so bad Summary: 4 Stars
Pretty simple message is communicated easily with this large picture display book: baby doesn't do much but sleep, gurgle and smell bad occasionally ---so not much of a play companion...but you can cuddle it, sing to it, show it off to your friends.
Seems to be a good simple concept to convey about our first pending new sibling arrival to my 3 year old.
Book Review: okay but not great. Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this book because of the great reviews but I dont like it that much. I have a[...]so maybe it just isnt for his age group. I would recommend the board books with no words for younger children (with pictures of people!) My son had a hard time determining which character was the big brother, dad, mom, etc. The people books work out much better.
