Book Reviews of The Name of this Book Is Secret (The Secret Series)

Book Review: The Name of this Book is Secret
Summary: 4 Stars

This book is about a big secret, yet you never get to know what the secret is. I thought I'd get that out of the way first. The narrator does not want to give you many details of the characters and locations in the book, again, because it's a secret. The narrator can't tell you plenty of things, but they sure go on and on about what they can't tell you. I think the narrator is supposed to be amusing and endearing, but I think the novel would have been just fine without that particular gimmick. In and of itself the story is entertaining. There is plenty of mystery, action, code breaking, and excitement. There are even scary moments. The Name of this Book is Secret is a fun easy read with the added entertainment of a quirky narrator. I certainly want to know what the secret is, and I will continue the series, not to find out, but because this book was entertaining. These are type the children's books that I love, a short fun escape from reality.

Book Review: Very good book
Summary: 4 Stars

I am 13 and got this book for Christmas. I haven't read a book in a series anything like this one. It was bizarre and different, which made me that much more enthusiastic to read it. The plotline had a style all it's own that brought a new element into the book. I thought the only small con was in the three book series, it got boring at some parts. I think the author could have written it in two books and left out some events, and it would have been just as good, and less strectched out. Besides that small flaw, overall, I recommend this book to anyone.

Book Review: Metafiction for kids!
Summary: 4 Stars

This book has a similar plot line to many of its sort (young perky protagonists use kid power to survive an adventure), but this one's different! It introduces kids to metafiction (of which I'm a big fan). And for budding neurologists, it introduces cool stuff like synesthesia. It's a fun, quirky read. There's also an appendix w/things like carny vocabulary, and other activities (e.g., how to make a compass, do a card trick, and break codes). The ending leaves the door wide open for a welcome sequel.

Book Review: Better than I thought
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall I thought it was a good book. I read the critical reviews on this book and it worried me beacause I picked this for a book club. I thought it was a good book. I have read Lemony Snicket's books and I thought those were better but this would come right after those. I was able to put the book down but I couldn't do it for that long. I think there are better books and worse books but you should try reading this if you like mysteries and secrets.

Book Review: good book!
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this book for my 11 year old son....He says that he likes how you have to figure out things throughout the book. There are a lot of mysteries within the book.He recommends the book to other kids who like mysteries. He said it's like the narrator is talking directly to you.
