Book Reviews of The Mysterious Benedict Society

Book Review: My winter experience
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was an awsome reading experience for my family. We, my 16yr. old daughter, 13yr. old son and I read it over Christmas break from school. We took turns reading each chapter and really began to discuss the characters, their obsticles, challenges they had to overcome, and adventures that they have in getting to know each other. My daughter says, " It's one of those book where you want to stop after each chapter and discuss, absorb, and imagine all the adventures they have before you go on and read the next exciting events". My son says, "You have a chance to try to predict the events and read on to find out if what you thought was correct or not". We really enjoyed reading this book together. Often times we would read rather than watch television because we were so excited to see what would happen next.

Book Review: 5 Stars

I'm 24 y/o and bought this book as a train ride read to and from work. I was so delighted in my purchase. This book isn't just for kids. Anyone and everyone should read it. The authors ability to hold the readers attention throughout the book was impeccable. I growled at my boyfriend for disturbing my reading when I got home. This is one of those books that reminded me why I enjoyed reading as a kid and made me realize that there aren't enough of these kinds of books available and geared towards adults. It lets you reach into your deepest child and use that long forgotten past time of using your IMAGINATION. The book was written with it in mind. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a great big read for the price. Can't wait for the 3rd book to come out in October!

Book Review: Somebody snap up the movie rights!
Summary: 5 Stars

I found this title quite by accident at the Kindle store. I was intrigued by the customer reviews, and I am delighted that I downloaded it.

This is a gem of a story that was as enjoyable to me, as an adult, as I imagine it would be to a tweener.

The story is engaging; the humor and suspense are wonderful; the characters are well developed and the kids are each fabulous in their own ways. Watching the latest Harry Potter movie this past weekend, I could not help but think that The Mysterious Benedict Society would make an even better movie aimed largely at the same demographic. (Casting Constance Contraire would be quite a challenge, however.)

One word describes this book: "charming."

Book Review: The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart: A Kid's Review
Summary: 5 Stars

The Mysterious Benedict Society is one of the best books I've ever read in my life. I really love mysteries, but this one was more of an action adventure. It was puzzling and the tension kept me reading for hours! I couldn't put it down! My parents had to make me close the book to eat!
It's about four kids named Reynie, Sticky, Kate and Constance who take special tests for advanced children. Once they've completed the tests, the four of them get challenged with a special mission to try to capture deceptive Mr. Curtin who is using high technology to brainwash people so that he can carry out his evil plot.
I would recommend this book to fifth through seventh graders, but some book-loving fourth graders might enjoy it.

Book Review: Excellent book for all ages.
Summary: 5 Stars

After much prodding from a friend, I finally decided to pick up The Mysterious Benedict Society. I read the blurb on the back, decided that the plot seemed decent at the most, and read it.

Boy, am I glad I did!

Within just a few pages, I was completely captivated by Reynie, and the whole idea of the test fascinated me. One of my favorite parts in the book was stopping to think about the riddle I just came across.

Every single one of the characters are extremely lovable (Yes, including Constance!), and after finishing the book, I ran off to beg my friend for the sequel.

One of the few books that is great if you're five or a hundred-and-five.
