Book Reviews of The Master Cleanser: With Special Needs and Problems

Book Review: It's a cleanse, not a diet - and it works
Summary: 5 Stars

Of all the cleansing methods I've looked at, this one seemed the easiest to do. And it turned out to be very effective. You will notice the changes right away.

There are some things that should be noted:
1. If you read and follow the instructions accurately, you will NOT feel hungry, but you WILL have cravings for foods that have sugars, caffeine, etc. There is a difference and some of the negative reviews were from people who cannot distinguish between the two.

2. There IS some measure of discomfort. I could literally feel the toxins leaching through and out of my body. So, do whatever you can to help the expelling though herbal laxatives and the salt cleanse.

3. This is NOT MEANT TO BE A DIET. It has a side benefit of losing weight as the author notes, but as the author also notes it's origins and applications are NOT about losing weight. This is also misunderstood by those giving negative reviews.

4. Read carefully and buy the correct maple syrup. One reviewer suggested that you would consume between 600 and 1200 calories in syrup. That is totally inaccurate - that person was probably consuming syrup with added sugar (a warning also given by the Burroughs). 100% organic grade b maple syrup has 50 calories per 2 tbl serving, which is the ratio for this cleanse. At 6-8 servings per day, that is 300-400 calories.

As with anything, your mileage will vary, but my experience seemed to generally line-up with the book and it's nearly 30-year old concept.

Book Review: A new beginning
Summary: 5 Stars

I've cleansed three times this year. After the second one, I had my annual physical. Not only did it reveal spectacular results in terms of cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure, but I dropped two dress sizes and my skin has visibly improved. My doctor was actually shocked at the difference between a few years ago and now.

People preach that this is not primarily a weight-loss diet, and they're right; if you don't commit to maintaining a healthy diet and exercising regularly after you finish cleansing, you defeat the purpose, and any weight lost may return quickly (your metabolism tends to slow with reduced caloric intake). However, if you let this cleanse serve as a health-building, confidence-boosting jump-start to a completely new lifestyle, you can have the best of both worlds. The great way I feel, as well as the desire to keep off the 31 pounds I lost, have inspired me to adopt a vegan/organic lifestyle and exercise daily. High-quality food is more expensive (I've learned firsthand), but your body is the temple of God, and you are a worthwhile investment.

The amazing thing is that you CAN do it. I never thought I could fast for 10 days, but it really wasn't that hard. You may "miss" food, but you're not truly hungry. My only cautions: 1) you'll need a few hours of extra sleep each night and 2) you should follow the instructions for breaking the fast very carefully, or you may experience cramps and indigestion.

I hope your experience with cleansing proves as positive as mine was.

Book Review: Your friends are not crazy! Great book, great cleanse!
Summary: 5 Stars

I thought all my friends were crazy! Ten different friends of mine had all taken the 10-day lemonade fast as described in this book, and they all talked about how great it was! A nurse friend of mine told me how her blood pressure dropped, her sleep improved, and she felt more energy than ever before. Other friends of mine spoke of miraculous benefits too.
For years (literally), I sat on the sidelines listening to my friends talk about the fast... but I was always too scared and too skeptical to follow in their footsteps.
How could I possibly go 10 days without food?? I would kill myself! I can't even skip a meal without getting weak and hungry! How would my body react to no food and no vitamins? Surely it would shrivel up and die!
And then one day, I just did it. Just for the hell of it. I couldn't stand hearing my friends talk about it anymore. And so I did it.
And not only did my body survive, but my body thrived! I had a chronic cough from a year ago when I had bronchitis, and my chronic cough almost completely disappeared by the time my lemonade fast was over. I shed excess fat on my body, I felt incredible.
I highly recommend this book, and the lemonade fast. The author makes really strong arguments for what really is beneficial for your body, and how we poison our bodies by filling them with junk all the time.
It's time to give your body a rest and a cleanse. Check out this book, and witness your body come alive!

Book Review: The easiest way to change your bad eating habits.
Summary: 5 Stars

My son is a message therapist and he did this diet for the detox. e does not need to loose any weight but he told me how it made him feel. He sent me the book to try because I had told him that I really needed to loose 50 lbs and I just could not change my bad eating habits. I read the book and discussed it with my wife. She was totally against it and me doing it. While I read the book I could just see that this seemed to be what I was looking for. I could do this for 10 or more days and then start eating right from there on out. Well I decided to do it and the 2nd day was the worst. I had a bad headache but I stuck with it. After the 2nd day I had no probem. I made sure to go around as many people that were eating as I could and the 2nd week on the diet I went on vacation for 2 weeks. I knew that if I could do this at that time I could change for ever. I am 47 years old. In the next 6 months I have lost a total of 57 pounds, went from streatching size 40 pants to wearing size 32 comfortably. My goal was to be under 200 lbs and I have went to 198 and I eat more than I ever have ( several times a day) not quantity and I eat more healthy. I run an average of 12 - 15 miles a week and I have not taken any of the asthma medicine nor have I had any heart burn since I started this diet. I would recomend this to anyone that is serious enough to try it but if you are not disciplined enough to stick to the instructions DO NOT TRY IT. Good Luck

Book Review: Great Book, Challenging Diet
Summary: 5 Stars

I found this 50 page book very interesting. While i do not know if all the points in the book have medical validity i like the spin the author puts on things. He makes a few interesting points pretaining to the things we do in everyday life. He says that we should not just pray over our food, but pray for the ability to make good decisions at the grocery store. The book contains not just the lemonade diet (which is pretty difficult to follow) but also contains ideas for healthy living and natural remedies for after the diet. The diet is pretty straight forward and pretty brutal for the first couple of days till you get used to it. The cayenne pepper is miserable but very necessary to aid in the removal of mucus and toxins. After that it kind of changes how you look at bad foods and other things. I personally lost the majority of my cravings for unhealthy food, and also felt that i had alot more energy. I could breathe much better and also experienced a better sense of smell. As far as weight loss is concerned i lost 20 lbs and kept half of that off. Ill admit that the organic lifestyle is hard to follow, but i feel that if i was actually working out i would have kept more off and actually lost more. All in all i think this is a great overall cleanse to do every six months and the feeling of good health that you get from it is well worth the little bit of suffering you have to endure while youre doing it.
