Book Review: Watch out Cussler, Rollins, Reilly, Lincoln Child, Douglas Preston, Dan Brown, a new guy is in town!

I just finished reading "Fifth Day". I read both "The Mask of Atreus" and "Fifth Day" back-to-back in two days. There were intervals for sleep, dining, baby-sitting a sick 6 yr old, and breaks to research on-line the different and exciting places/concepts from both books. I didn't know the author had a website with pictures until I finished "Fifth Day" (but that was actually ok because you have to wait to go to the authors website until AFTER you've read the books or the great endings will be revealed). The Doric temple columns were breathtaking, and the Fontanelle was so unexpectedly sad and REAL that I had to leave off viewing the photos.
Both books were so enjoyable that for only the second time ever I wrote to the author to say "Thank you for providing about 10 hours of pure, interesting, entertainment!!!" (The first time was to a hilarious children's poetry author: L W Lewis "Why do Flies Eat Doggy Poop?)
Wonderfully, AJ Hartley took the time to write a sincere and thoughtful reply the very next day! I don't think Mr. Hartley will mind me sharing a part of that reply: "Yours is precisely the kind of message that help to keep authors writing and I really appreciate your taking the time to send it. I do hope that you enjoy the more recent books as much as the first two. I'll be interested to hear your verdict, esp. to ACT OF WILL which is a different kind of book and probably not to the taste of all those who have read my thrillers."
