Book Reviews of The Man Who Ate Everything

Book Review: Witty and wise, eclectic but intelligent
Summary: 5 Stars

Jeffrey Steingarten researches his topics meticulously. Each essay is a proper study of diet, bread making, mineral water, french fries, truffles etc.

His writing is intelligent and compelling. I am not a mad foodie nor a chef but my wife read so many extracts aloud while she enjoyed it that I decided to read it. It was excellent and I can not recommend it highly enough.

Book Review: Witty, great writing, *and* a skeptical look at food faddism
Summary: 5 Stars

The book describes Steingarten as an "investigative" food reviewer, which is a fairly unique description. Some of his best chapters have just enough food chemistry or physiology to be challenging, and it is so wonderful to find someone who doesn't automatically buy into our food and diet subculture of superstition, but actually bases his opinions on science.

Book Review: It doesn't get any better
Summary: 5 Stars

Jeffrey Steingarten is simply the funniest nonfiction writer at work today. His wit, thanks to his self-deprecation, is never cruel. And his service to the world, should just one reader cast off the burdens of food phobias or psychosomatic food allergies, is enormous. Buy a bar of good dark chocolate or cut yourself some smelly raw milk cheese, sit back, and enjoy.

Book Review: Foodtastic
Summary: 5 Stars

I love food and I love to cook and a friend of mine who knew me well gave me this book as a gift. I laughed, I craved, I taste-tested, it was fabulous! I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to cook or eat. Steingarten is funny and thorough and I guarantee that you will be fiending for at least one of these foods before you are finished.

Book Review: Delightful read
Summary: 5 Stars

From food science to travelogue, this book has it all. Just a delightful read about food, cooking, cuisine without the snobby attitude. In fact, it's quite funny, witty, and candid. And it's broken into essays so you can pick it up and put it down when you need to, although I guarantee you won't put it down often! Super!
