From the first paragraph I was hooked! I began at 6:30 a.m. on a beautiful Saturday morning, went through a pot of coffee and finished up at 2 p.m. It was worth sacrificing a sunny day to complete this book in one sitting. A must read book especially if you are Irish. The irish wit and humor is throughout the book. Thank God there is more to come, hated to finish the book. If you are from Dublin, the northside of course, you will really get a kick out of this book, typical of Dublin in the sixties, with the money lenders, hard times, yet, everyone made it thru'. O'carroll really made it with this book and the 2 that followed.
