Book Reviews of The Lucky OneBook Review: A great love story Summary: 5 Stars
This is a wonderful novel, told in a way that is fascinating and enjoyable. Nicolas Sparks knows how to tell a story. The characters are real and believable. I found myself caring about them early in the book. The author has the ability to make people come alive in just a few pages. Once I began to care about them, I was hooked. I couldn't put the book down until I was done. The Lucky One made for a few very enjoyable hours. That is what I want in a book: discovering people that I care about, and a good story to follow them through. It may not be great literature for the ages, but it suits me.
I don't usually read love stories, but I am glad that I found this one. After finishing this novel, I decided to look up the author's other books. I believe that he has written some other good stories that I will enjoy. I believe that you will too.
Book Review: Romantic Drama at its BEST Summary: 5 Stars
Nicholas Sparks comes through again. Having read all his novels, I must rank The Lucky One as one of his best right behind Bend in the Road. Wonderfully conceived story with a few messages for us. His dialogs improve each time and the drama mixed with romance is amazing. I really felt for the characters in this story. NS interjects sarcasm and humor at just the right times. I think pages 153-163 (on Elizabeth's brother's birthday) contain some of the most dramatic writing NS has produced so far. The words jump out from the pages and lead us on a beautiful path to an excellent ending. I will be rereading NS prior books while I wait for his next book. If you enjoyed this book, try Spencerville by Nelson DeMille it's The Lucky One with a PG rating.
Book Review: Sweet story with loveable characters Summary: 5 Stars
This was the 1st Nicholas Sparks book I read (love stories are usually NOT my thing) but since movies have been made from his stories, I thought I'd give this book a try. Very nicely done! First, his style is easy to read and his story didn't drag on forever with useless details. Next, I was very impressed that his story included a veteran dealing with the horrors of war and another character who is a dirtbag that uses women - yet this book didn't have one single cuss word in it. There were loveable characters who made me laugh and I even cried reading this book too. It had just the right amount of drama, light, funny moments and wasn't overly mushy in the love part of the story. I'll be reading Mr. Sparks' work again soon!
Book Review: The Lucky One Summary: 5 Stars
"The Lucky One" was actually a pretty good book. It took me about a chapter to get into it. I don't know why I think that he will ever top "The Notebook" because it is not possible, and I have all these expectations of Nicholas Sparks since that book, and he never exceeds them. I can't really blame him, that love story is like no other. But this new story was good. It was easy reading; I wasn't bored. It actually seemed like a book that a man could enjoy as well. Sparks main male character had been in the marines, so he spoke of war often. I don't necessarily enjoy reading about it, but I know a lot of you would. It was worth reading for sure.
Book Review: It's Wonderful Summary: 5 Stars
Nicholas Sparks has done it again!!! He has created another wonderful book with really terrific characters. Logan Thibault and Elizabeth Clayton are two rather lonely people when Logan shows up in her small NC town. He gets a job and befriends both Elizabeth and her son, Ben. There is actually a recognizable villain this time in Ben's dad and Elizabeth's ex, Keith. I won't say more but suffice it to say Keith is a real piece of work. I highly recommend this book. I got it one day and finished it the next. It transports you to small town America again and it's a pleasure to take the trip.
