Book Reviews of The Lord of the Rings SketchbookBook Review: Magical Summary: 5 Stars
What a beautiful collection this is. The afternoon it arrived, I wandered again in Middle Earth, lost in Alan Lee's art. But most wonderful, it seems to me (who came to the movies from many readings of the books,) is that as I looked at these drawings they recalled not just scenes from the movies, but returned me to the tactile pleasure of discovering this world as I first had found it --in Tolkien's books. I love both the books and the movies. Now, when time constrains, I don't have to choose between the two. Thank you, Alan Lee.
Book Review: wonderful book Summary: 5 Stars
I'd recommend this book for anyone who likes arts, or at least The Lord of the Rings. The pencil artworks are fantastic, mostly very detailed; there are also a few paints in the book, you can see their pencil sketches, too, each of these painted pictures cover a full page.
The book itself covers the most of the Lord of the Rings's places, it even contains pictures of Tom Bombadil's house, him and his wife.

Book Review: I expected it to be good Summary: 5 Stars
Simply a brilliant piece to my lotr collection. Not only are the sketches great, they also give an insight to how the movie came to be as it did and if it hadn't been for Alan Lee then the movie would have been the poorer for it. The text by Alan Lee is a useful tool to be taken into the magic that was in the creation of the movie. Great book!
Book Review: Beautiful art worthy of Tolkien Summary: 5 Stars
This book by Alan Lee is really spectacular. His art has always been beautiful but this sketchbook really gives insight into the preparations done for the Peter Jackson LOTR movies. The narrative is also quite interesting. If you love the Jackson LOTR movies and Alan Lee's work, you won't be disappointed.
Book Review: Great for fantasy artist... Summary: 5 Stars
For those who likes fantasy style arts, this book really gives nice details on Alan Lee's fantasy style works.
From simple sketches to highly rendered illustrations, all the art works in this book are great for art students AND those who simply loves The Lord of the Rings.
