Book Reviews of The Long Hard Road Out of Hell

Book Review: Not a Fan of the Band, but a Fan of This Book
Summary: 5 Stars

The best thing about this book is that with very minimal knowledge of who the band, Marilyn Manson is, you can appreciate and fully enjoy the book.

Manson gives a very candid look into his life, starting from his childhood and continuing to his music career. This includes disturbing stories from his grandfather's basement, his awkward teen years and his response to all the rumors circulating the goings-on at his concerts. This is a very fast and enjoyable, yet disturbing read.

One may not think this book is true because of how outlandish some of the stories may seem. But when Manson presents them, showing his weaknesses and describing very embarassing moments, this shows his truthfulness.

It is shocking, but that is to be expected, coming out of Marilyn Manson. I enjoyed the book and have read it several times. Be prepared to encounter some gross scenes and schocking tales, but also be prepared to read an excellent autobiography by a very talented writer.

You may not be a fan of his band or music, but after reading this book, you'll see a whole different side to Manson, a more human than freak show side.

Book Review: Antichrist? Hardly....
Summary: 5 Stars

I was a fan before I read this novel (i have an autographed copy of it signed by Manson on my desk at home) but this novel didnt like most bios didnt start out "this is why i am special and you should worship me" Manson aka Brian Warner often pokes fun at himself and goes through the typical teen tramas and hardships growing up but this talented former journalist, brings the story of his rise to fame with lots of humor, personal and very embarressing infor such as his first kiss, first time with a girl, why he should never smoke marijuna, and friendships between his bandmates, his family life, and the when his girlfriend aborted their child. There are parts of the novel where Warner admitts he was crying in the process of getting out all the hurt inside. This book makes him especially human to not only his fans but his opponets too, and because it is such a quick read you dont want to put it down. I have convinced people that are not Manson fans to read this novel and loved it just the same and found it a facinating novel. I highly recomend it to everyone. Book Review: amazing insight into the mind of such an intriguing artist
Summary: 5 Stars

this boook is the life of marilyn manson. essentially, that is it. the really cool thing is this: many people hear the name marilyn manson and assume it is more shock than rock, all an act for fame's sake. they could not be more wrong. marilyn is an intelligent, thought provoking and yes controversial artist. this book covers his life and what exactly makes him "tick"
i find it an intriguig insight into a man who is both extremist to make a point and yet just like every person who felt like a throwaway. reading this book made me realize that he is just a normal guy taking on a society that in which, one can sometimes feel disposable.
if your truly interested in this topic, keep an open mind a TRULY OPEN mind. this is a great read. sometimes sick and twisted, sometimes just the story of a rock band and other times just a person trying to express his view of things (even as akew as his views are, it is still just artistic expression)
all in all a great book for those who are not closed minded, ignorant or timid.

Book Review: An excellent book of my recommendation
Summary: 5 Stars

At a time when I was most bored by my schooling and my family life, including my many apparent social short-comings, I found this to be an excellent opportunity to become aquainted with an individual hated by hypocrites I come in contact with daily. This became an addicting interest in an artist amongst fools who look to an uninhabited cross, emptied by an other man persecuted for his "radical" impact on a society also inhabited by "equals" of inferior wisdom. I would recommend this for reading to anyone confused by Marilyn Manson, his drama and theatrical presentations feared by mothers everywhere a show is played. This book made me realize what to look for in people, not they're false smiles, mint-green suits, happy demeanour and the like. I now see people for who they are, flawed creatures that share problems I once believed I was exclusive to. I wish to express my deepest thanks to: Mr. Manson, Brian Warner, Anton Szandor LA Vey, and Neil Strauss.

Book Review: Astoundingly Enjoyable Book About the #1 "Shock Rocker"
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is an incredibly enjoyable, no-holds-barred journey into the scarred, tainted heart and soul of Mr. Brian Warner, known famously as Marilyn Manson.

Manson's incredible intelligence and insights abound, but his darkest moments are wonderfully mentioned with a wry, dark wit and humor that help to humanize the man behind the myth, as they say. His tongue-in-cheek humor and ability to mock himself is incredibly funny, but it is never overdone, and is offset nicely by his unapologetic, description-laden tales of drugs, sex, and rock and roll decadence.

Too many times, artists' autobiographies seem as though they were written by someone other than the artist theirself - such is NOT the case here. The writing has Manson written all over it, and even those who are not fans of Manson's music are sure to get a delightfully, sin-filled thrill out of reading this literary masterpiece. A wonderfully entertaining, enlightening read.
