Book Reviews of The Little Red Caboose (Little Golden Book)

Book Review: Awesome book to teach about being helpful
Summary: 5 Stars

If you're looking for a book on self worth and how everyone works as a team to make things happen, this is your book. The red caboose complains that the children never wave to him as he goes by because they all know that he's last. All the other train cars get their attention but no one notices him. He laments that he would like to be the big steam engine in the front or one of the other cars instead. However, one day, the big engine tries to pull the train up a mountain and well, can't. The train starts to slip but the red caboose puts on his brake and keeps the train from falling down the mountain until two big engines pull up behind to push the train up the mountain. The caboose saved the day and then all the children saved their biggest waves for him! You're never too small to make a difference, even if you are last! Great book, my little guy just loves it and it is so wonderful for the train lover in your house too. It's also nice to see the caboose for a change too - I really miss them! Be prepared for tons of questions though - this book covers a bunch of stuff and the illustrations are just beautiful. A great find and it can be more easily found in your local store too.

Book Review: The Little Red Caboose
Summary: 5 Stars

I first purchased this book in the late 1970's when my son was just a toddler. He loved it so much that it was not uncommon for his grandmother or me to repeat the reading several times each day. In time he was able to fill in the blanks and finish the sentences on each page as though he were reading to us!! It's a classic, and I'm so thrilled that it's still available for other little ones to enjoy in their lives. I'm now reading this same treasure to my three grandchildren who love it as much as their father and I had. In fact they look for the little red caboose on every train that passes when they visit Grammy. So many valuable lessons are contained in the story, especially one of perseverance and self-esteem. I will always treasure this book.

Book Review: The Little Red Caboose
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this book 29 years ago, for my son, who was 17 months old at the time. It was read to him many times, as it was his favorite book. The pictures fascinated him, and he became very interested in trains. By the time, he was two, he had it memorized. It is a great book for children. It teaches a lesson, and it is a fascinating story. For years, I have looked for this book, as the original one, wore out. So, I bought this book, for my son, who just had his 30th birthday, and recently married, to pass down to his children. I highly reccommend this book for children from ages 1 on up. I have always enjoyed this book, along with my son, and never tired, reading it to him. It is great!

Book Review: Warms Your Heart and Soul!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this book. It really gets to your heart!! In the beginning of the story, no one paid any attention to the Little Red Caboose. However, in the end, he proved to everyone that he may be the last and smallest, but without him the train woudn't be complete. It expresses that you don't have to be the biggest and best looking to do the best that you can in everything you do! This show's kids that they're just as important as anybody else. No one is better or worse. When I'm 92 I will still read and love this book! It's an insperational book, especially for smaller kids to help build their self esteem. This is a great book for kid's to learn from.

Book Review: Coming last is not so bad after all.
Summary: 5 Stars

A well written book with lots of detailed pictures to look at and talk about on each page.
After just the second reading, my children (age 5 and 3) already relate to the little red caboose and the message that coming last isn't so bad after all. Noone loves the little red caboose (but they do, they tell me). They wait with anticipation for the big hill that the train can't quite climb and the big black train rapidly advancing from behind- The little red caboose has his moment of glory, hopefuly my children get the message that all things are possible, if one just tries!
