Book Reviews of The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuckBook Review: The Best Comic Book Saga Ever Summary: 5 Stars
Actually, being from Finland, I have had the luck to read this book over 4 years ago. Finland, being one of the most, if not THE most Donald Duck-loving country in the world, has the privilege of getting many Don Rosa publishings before others. We do appreciate it.
I loved the book. It's truly a detailed saga with hours of reading and picture-looking. All the little itty-bitty details fulfill each other and also Carl Barks' works. Keno Don Rosa is very dedicated to his work.
Book Review: Great yet Overpriced. Wait for New Hardcover editions in 2010 Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great book to understand Scrooge McDuck's origins. Yet at a minimum of $80 at any store on Amazon at the time of this writing, I would consider it's worth waiting for the hardcover editions of this volume. Volume 1 is scheduled for February 2, 2010, and volume 2 on April 6, 2010. Both of these volumes have 112 pages. In the meantime, I would recommend the excellent Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck Companion in Paperback, still available under $10.
Book Review: Joining Epic, Drama and Comedy Summary: 5 Stars
It's simply amazing read comics that can make you laught, but at the same time makes you think and feel. Don Rosa not only did a marvelous research job over Carl Barks' work, but input some of his own mojo. His art is perfect - quite inspired in the Duckman style - and the story, besides is still a history about talking animals, is almost plausive. And very touching.
For children 8 or 80 years old...
Book Review: Whatever can a Duck do for me? Summary: 5 Stars
I was fasinated by the way Don Rosa treated Carl Barks' story and yet put his own stamp on both the Duck, the clientele and history, even details of geografy like in Dawson. So it may be excused that Mississippi and Ohio are mixed a bit. All in all, if you care for Scrooge McDuck, the book is a must. If you do not care about him, be careful not to read it, you just might become a follower.
Book Review: Oh, so? Summary: 5 Stars
Don Rosa is the greatest creator of Uncle Scrooge comics since Carl Barks himself. This book features Rosa's 12 part biography of Scrooge McDuck. Using clues from old Barks comics, he tells the story of how Scrooge became the richest duck in the world. It's a magnicicent comic, which won the 1995 Eisner award for Best Serialized Story. Highly recommended to any fan of Disney comics.
