Book Reviews of The Leopard PrinceBook Review: Hoyt could become my favorite author Summary: 5 Stars
This is Hoyt's second book but, aside from fresh story lines, you'd never know it. Her writing has a "maturity" to it that gives that feeling that she's been your favorite author for years. She is definitely becoming a favorite of mine.
In this story, George is a rich aristocratic landowner. As such she has no need to marry. Harry is her land steward. He is serious and business minded. But, as the two work together they start to enjoy being together. An attraction starts and Hoyt does a nice job of building the tension between them. When they come together it seems natural, not unbelievable as one reviewer said.
One surprised, though, was that the character actually talk to each other, even after sleeping together. They get to know one another and it is possible to see that they could actually fall in love. Further, one can see how the relationship could work outside the bedroom. Even with the difference in their social standings.
The love scenes are steamy and erotic. But, I didn't feel that the love story was an excuse for a lot of sex scenes. Rather, it felt more like a love story where the sex furthered the relationship.
I really adored THE LEOPARD PRINCE, as well as Hoyt's first story THE RAVEN PRINCE. Her third book, THE SERPENT PRINCE, is due out in a few weeks and I've already pre-ordered it. Her works are a delight.
Book Review: I didn't think I could love this as much as I loved the Raven Prince... Summary: 5 Stars
But I do. I LOVED the Raven Prince not just because it was a wonderfully written story (such a unique plot), but because Elizabeth Hoyt's heroine was a strong, independent, passionate, intelligent woman. I loved that book so much that I actually considered NOT reading this one, The Leopard Prince, for fear that it wouldn't live up to my expectations. But I'm so glad that I did. I LOVED her characters...and Georgina is much like Anna Wren, but so much more carefree and bubbly. The author creates heroines that are so amazing...they're women that we'd like to be, women we identify with. And the love scenes! Oh my goodness, they're so amazing. I love that even though it's very explicit, it's written in such a way that the reader knows it's not just a "roll in the hay", but that there's a connection between them. It means something.
Oh, and the side plot with Bennett and Will...that was such a touching story that just made me fall in love with Harry Pye even more!!
Oh! and I love how she puts Edward de Raaf in at the end!! How awesome was that?! I can't wait to read the next book! I hope Violet and Bennett get together! And I would love to get tidbits about how Anna and Edward are doing...and Georgina and Harry. Such a fantastic book...I love the writing, the plot, and most importantly I love how the author has created incredible, wonderful heroines!!
Book Review: The Leopard Prince Summary: 5 Stars
I don't consider myself a romance reader and only picked up Hoyt's first book, the Raven Prince, under the misconception that it might be paranormal, and yet I fell in love with the characters and couldn't wait to read the Leopard Prince. Immediately, I set myself up to be disappointed, and yet again I was surprised in just how much I loved this story. I simply could not put it down.
The writing flowed seamlessly. The characters were lovable. George, the main character, was very independent for a woman (thanks to her inheritance from her wealthy aunt) and extremely intelligent and witty. Her brothers were adorable in that younger, yet overbearing way that baby brothers could be. I loved when Tony arrived at the scene ;-) (you'll have to read to find out what I'm talking about). I noticed one review trashed this, but I even loved the fairy tale George told Henry. She so obviously was making it up as she went along. And I loved hearing Henry's thoughts about the inconsistencies of said fairy tale.
I would definitely recommend this book. If you haven't read the first (The Raven Prince) don't worry, it won't effect you the least in reading this one. Henry plays a small part in the first book, and de Raaf plays only a small part in the this one. Although, I do recommend you read the Raven Prince, too, it's quite fabulous.
Book Review: I simply adored this book... Summary: 5 Stars
Elizabeth Hoyt is a new writer for me and it's such a treat to find a book that you can't put down, with characters that sizzle and zing AND that you care about. I was totally invested in Harry & Georgina's plight/relationship/love.
Summary - Harry is Lady Georgina's land steward, the crux of the conflict is the class difference, one is the daughter of an earl and the other a "commoner," but Harry is NO common male. There is a villian running around, killing sheep and people (well, person) and blaming it on Harry. Everyone is suspicious and Harry is trying to find out who is behind the ruckus, all the while trying to fend off the mutual attraction between servant and Lady.
The attraction is definitely there, sparks fly, love scenes are hot and borderline erotica (in my opinion) but no matter, the romance and feelings of Harry & Lady ring true, which is what MAKES a ROMANCE for me. One of the Hoyt's best assets as a writer is that she doesn't shy away from the "imperfect happily ever after" - Harry doesn't suddenly become aristocracy or come into a ton of money. And I wouldn't want him to be, he's ALL decent, heroic male and that is better than ANY title. This one is going on my keeper shelf and staying there forever.
Needless to say, The Leopard Prince is my favorite book of the Princes Trilogy. Enjoy!
Book Review: Better than the first Summary: 5 Stars
I actually liked this book better than Hoyt's first. That one was just okay for me. I really didn't like the female lead in The Raven Prince. In fact, I think I sold that book and now I wish I had it so I could go back and check out Harry and Simon again. Oh, well on to The Leopard Prince. I did like it. It did have its dark side and I also, as some others have said, thought that some of the language was too crude. But, overall, I liked the book. I loved the relationship between Harry, Bennet, and Will. I would like to see a book with Bennet and it looks like Violet could be his match. Harry was a very compelling character and while I wasn't wild about Georgina, I could put up with her.
There are a lot of books I read and then put down and wonder why I wasted my time. The Leopard Prince isn't one of those books. The time I spent reading it was time well-spent. Elizabeth Hoyt is a very intelligent writer. Her weaving of the fairy tales puts her writing in another class altogether. I am looking forward to her next offering. Simon sounds like he could be a delicious hero!!
BTW, for those of you looking for intelligent writing, check out Rona Sharon's work. It was a novel I thoroughly enjoyed.
