Book Reviews of The Keepsake: A Novel

Book Review: "The Keepsake" a review
Summary: 3 Stars

Tess Gerritsens 'The Keepsake' was a decent enough read with some interesting and unexpected twists in the plot. However it was quite slow paced and ,dare I say it, even a tad boring in places. Points were quite laboured and the majority of the book had to read before anything of major significance happened. A series of barely hinted at clues left me infuriated and I feel that lead characters should have been more involved than they turned out to be. This is not a bad book by any stretch of the imagination and it is well worth a read so long as the reader is prepared to be patient with it.

Book Review: Not night reading.
Summary: 3 Stars

This is about my 5th Gerritsen book. I especially like the continuity of the main characters Maura Isles and Jane Rizzoli; after awhile, you feel that you know them. If you like archaeology you will like this story. However, since it deals with a serial killer and a main character who is always one step ahead of him, living in terror, it is not a book for night reading.

She ties up all the loose ends as usual at the end of the book; however, I have liked some of her other books better.

Book Review: 3.5, Could've Been Better
Summary: 3 Stars

This book was only ok for me. I was a little disappointed in the writing. I wanted to read more about the killer and how he preserved his victims. It felt like that part of the story was brushed over. The story seemed to drag along, without much exciting happening. Just wasn't as good as Gerritsen can be.

Book Review: Decent
Summary: 3 Stars

This is an adequate entry in the "Rizzoli/Isles" series, though not nearly as good as the first two or three books. Highlights included someone FINALLY telling Rizzoli off about her irrational dislike of beautiful women, and seeing Rizzoli's mom breaking out of her "good housewife" shell.

Book Review: No connection with reality
Summary: 3 Stars

The plot is too improbable to be believable. The main character Dr Maura Isles has become a person I can't like. The victim is another whiny woman who knows the bad guys are coming and yet does nothing to protect herself. Pretty much a waste of money and time.
