Book Review: SHOCKING!!! BRUTAL!!! AND UNRELENTING!!!

Man! Can Gord Rollo write? You better believe it! This is one of the best, if not the best, horror novels I've read this year. Once this shocker gets going it hits you like a Mack truck and never stops until the end. Would you give your right arm for $2 million dollars? What if you did and it culminated into a nightmare beyond all belief? Well, it happens in this story. Absolutely BRUTAL and SHOCKING!!!!
Our main protagonist, Mike, is put through the wringer in this one. Some of the scenes will make you freak! I won't spoil anything for you, but keep an eye out for the 4th floor scene about one-third of the way through the book and the incinerator scene not long after that and well......there's other's that I'll leave to you to discover for yourself. You've been warned!
One of the interesting things about this novel is how it portrays 2 sides to each of the 2 main characters. Kind of like the old phrase 2 sides to every coin. For instance, the good doctor(Dr. Marshall) who is our main antagonist in this book at the start seems like a great person, a pillar of the community and such. That's his Yin side. Wait til you see his dark side/Yang side! Mike is in much the same vain, but in a different light. He once had a good life and it came crashing down around him(you'll find out about why it did and it's sad). Then he became a street bum who wanted to commit suicide and along comesthe offer of lots of money from the good doctor and Mike wants to somewhat straighten his life back out and help his daughter. Kind of sad story inside of a terrifying story.
I won't give anything away, but just know this story is a spin on the Frankenstein story, which makes it all the more interesting. You can kind of get a picture of what to expect towards the beginning of the book when the Doc is explaining about what he does at his research facility, in gory detail too.
No punches pulled in this story! Do yourself a favor pick this one up. It's not much and it's worth every penny! All in all it's a horrifying good read! It's got it all.....great plot, superbly developed characters, creepy atmosphere, blood and gore, shock and brutality, madness and mayhem, and a lightning bolt pace. It packs a bloody good wallop! This isn't some trashy, underdeveloped splatterfest some might make it out to be by reading the back cover blurb or looking at the front cover. It's as classy as you can get for a book of this nature.
I really look forward to reading more books by Mr. Rollo. His next Leisure title will be out next spring and is titled Crimson. Crimson is available right now(has been available for a while) on Amazon from a different publisher.
